Bowfishing Ideas

Having a weekend in about a month or so where a group of us are goin bowfishing one night down in the marsh down Hwy. 23. We'll be in two boats. Looking for some ideas of how to turn the night into a competition/tournament, if you will. I figured the friendly faces of the internet may have some ideas of how to put together a few categories for scoring, without being TOO COMPLICATED as it will be a long day leading up to this and there will more than likely be a few adult beverages consumed at some point along the way. We were thinking the two boats be teams against each other but could also have individual scoring as well. Thanks in advance and please, fire away!

Hmmm...Most tournaments are based on weight of slot fish. A team scoring based on how many people per team and the five fish per man weight limit would work...making it a slot fish would be the challenge...anything 27 and over would be DQ'd. Without a true manner to cull live fish it gets a little complicated...I guess the challenge would be to pick and choose the 'right' fish with the beer goggles on.

Same for individuals...heaviest slot red gets the top prize...just need a method to tag each individuals fish.

Throwing in a prize for a leopard red with the most spots would add some excitement...often a side bet at tournaments.

You just need a reliable way to measure the length and to weigh the fish.

Thanks DMAN, I had forgotten about the slot size being a good hard # to use. I like that. I think we'll add bonus fish for sheepshead, flounder, and gar too. Anything too sophisticated and I got a feeling some people will say forget it hahaha. I plan on having a scale for each boat and a tape for length. Should be a good time, hopefully I'll have some pics and stories to follow up with in about a month.
