Route from Hopedale to Terre aux Boeufs

Reply

I usually fish Delacroix, but fishing Hopedale this weekend with my son. If I get skunked fishing nearby, I want to journey back to familiar waters as my backup. What's the best path in a 19' CC least likely to leave me stuck on bottom? (I have a push Pole just in case ;)

Thanks, Massey

Hey doc,
I went the other day from Shell Beach and went across. Lake Robin to Grand Pass. From there I ran to Drum Bay and if you look on a chart the lil canal from Drum Bay will dump into Bayou Terre Aux Boeuf. There are a number of small islands and oyster beds all out there on the way so stop and hit some of them along the way. Good luck

I forgot from Grand Pass your going to want to head to Lake Calebasse from there you can head out through Cat Pass to Lake Fortuna or head to Drum Bay and get into Terre aux Boeufs

There is a manmade canal in the southwest side of Lake Robin which connects to Terre Aux Boeuf. You can then get to Four Horse very quickly.

Thanks guys. I fish Robin a good bit coming from the Delacroix side, so I should be good from there. To get to Robin from Hopedale Marina, is my best route the red, blue, or does not matter? I can run skinny, but hate getting stuck. ;)

Red is my route, and its fine most of the time. If the water is really low, stay on plane on the first turn in the lagoon and stay away from the shoreline.

Before you rush to Delacroix, you should know Robin and Coquille have some good fishing for reds and drum mid-March through early May. Stick and move most of the time, but sometimes you bump into a concentration.

Trout tend to be in the marsh north of Two Trees, but you will need live shrimp. Trout are rapidly getting pushed east as the water gets fresher each year from that diversion and MRGO closing. I'm also finding a lot of lagoons in Robin and Coquille becoming unfishable due to snotgrass, so fish main shorelines. Then, also nudge east to Two Trees to fish lagoons for reds.

Yea I'd err to that red route and avoid the blue unless water is up. Red route is known safe route, just made it myself earlier this week

I use the blue route and its deep, just more confusing and not as direct to Delacroix. Reds and Bass are in the Bayou Bernard lagoons. The snot grass gets real bad on the northern end.
