Privet Waters in Louisiana

Reply

ok so im going to Leeville / Gran isle and doing a little fishing in my kayak around March and all my friends keep telling me to be careful to not fish on private waters. I have looked and researched all over the internet and cant find a map or anything on where these private waters are......only have a couple days to fish and dont want to waste time paddling to a spot to find out its privet waters! If anyone has any advice on where to launch and fish without running into this problem would be awesome!!

Here's a link to an older post. Scroll thru it and you will find some info about what is private- basically most of the marsh south of Hwy1 from the new toll bridge just about up to the first small bridge and south to the gulf.

The state has a website but I can't find the link. It doesn't work very well but if you play around with it you should be able to find some good info. It might be inside that post.

There is a new public boat launch at the end of the old HWY 1 that has a kayak launch and is lighted for night fishing. From there, there is more public water than you can fish in a month from a kayak. Recently held a National or International Kayak Championship out of this launch!

Attached is a link to the State's GIS mapping system:
