Shark Fishing

Reply

Ive never fished for sharks before and would like go try to hook on to some. I only have a bass boat so I will obviously have to fish from land. Does anyone know the time of year and places to go to get into some action? I live in Marrero. So the closer the better.

Lake Ponchartrain is your best bet. I dont know what time of year but I do know that you can catch bukllsharks by the lakefront airport bridge. They have a sportsman episode on it check it out.

Yeah I've seen the video but everything seems a few years old. Someone told me a trip to grand isle at the right time of year would give me the most success. Even tho the lake has them they tend to be less abundant. I don't mind going to the isle. But the big WHEN is the issue I can't seem to find the answer to.

if you plan on a good day that isn't windy you can take your bass boat to grand isle. there are some rigs about 3 miles off the beach in 30-50 ft of water, and all you need to do is catch any trash fish cut it in half and toss it out. you can catch them all year round for what I've found. right now they have lots of shrimp boats off the beach and if you can find one that is tossing out all the by catch you can get some bigger ones behind them. i had a 17 ft flatboat that i would launch in myrtle grove and run across barateria bay to grand isle so a bass boat would be no problem. https://youtu.be/iEh8EsJwvBk thats a video i made a few years ago from a day when i went to grand isle. sharks in the end. hope this helped
