I also set myself an 8pts. or better rule an it has paid off for me also. So far I have killed an 8 and an 11. The biggest and best thing I have noticed by doing this is the amount of deer I have seen. I missed two other bucks, one was a wide 10 and the other I stopped counting at 13! Come to find out my scope was shooting 9" high. Made me sick! Anyways it has still been the best season of my life with my 11pt. and my boy got his first buck.

I tell you, I am so paranoid about my scope being on that I shoot atleast 2, if not 3 boxes of bullets each season. I also enjoy the target practice. Man, it's a tough pill to swallow...I can accept human error and a clean miss, but to let a good one get away because of the scope...tough! It happened to me several years ago and I vowed that it would never happen again. It sounds like you were on some big deer. What parish are you hunting?

Believe it or not this all took place in East Baton Rouge Parish. I don't know about you but by setting this new goal like we have, I saw more deer than anyone else in our club and saw 24 different bucks throughout the season. Quite a few of them I saw numerous times. Rained out at work today so I am out the door now to try my luck again.

Very nice deer indeed, even better that they were killed locally. My only question is how sure are you about the weight? I have personally killed a few 250 ld. deer in the midwest and when hanging from their hind legs they usually cover about 8 feet. Anyhow very nice.

The scale I used is not certified so could be off 10# or so. My largest prior to this was 225#, and this one dwarf's it. I've never had trouble loading a deer to haul out, but I could barely budge this one, and I'm in much better shape these days.
