Thanks Ruger

It good to see a Gun company go on the offensive instead of laying low hoping their company will survive. We need more of this.

Vitters response

Dear Mr. Fishtaxi,

Thank you for contacting me to voice your opposition to new gun control laws in response to the recent school shootings in Connecticut and California. I appreciate hearing your views, and I agree with you.

In the wake of these tragedies, many in Washington are calling for increased restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms, arguing that it will help to reduce gun violence. For example, Senator Feinstein (D-CA) has announced plans to reintroduce a ban on assault weapons and to limit magazine capacity. Also, President Obama has signed 23 executive actions and has called on Congress to pass legislation, including background checks for all firearms sales. However, as many supporters of the Second Amendment have pointed out, increased restrictions do little to affect the actions of criminals, who by definition do not abide by the law. Instead, they restrict the rights of law-abiding Americans.

I am a firm believer and ardent supporter of the rights enshrined in the Second Amendment. This constitutional right, and our heritage of using firearms for sporting and self-defense purposes, does not have to be sacrificed to reduce gun-related violence. Instead, we should focus on enforcing the extensive laws already in place and turn our attention to more appropriate measures, such as increasing the safety of our schools and keeping guns out of the hands of those who may be mentally incapable of owning them responsibly.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues important to you and your family.

Landrieu response

February 15, 2013

Dear Mr. Fishtaxi:

In response to the tragic events that occurred in Newtown, Conn., Congress and the White House are currently considering ways to reduce gun violence in America. I strongly believe that we must find a way to reduce gun violence without infringing on the rights of honest Americans who abide by the law and own guns. My record on protecting citizens' Second Amendment rights is strong, as I voted in opposition to the 2004 assault weapons ban reinstatement and in favor of restoring Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia, among other relevant votes.

As a centrist United States Senator, I do not decide my vote based on party line, or based on what party is in the White House. There are no simple solutions to this extremely complicated issue and I fully recognize that there are legitimate concerns on all sides. Please be assured that I will carefully review any and all related legislative measures with the will of the people of Louisiana in mind.

As your Senator, I rely heavily on the comments and concerns of my constituents when acting out my duties in Congress, and I appreciate your taking the time to contact me. I hope you will continue to contact me regarding matters of mutual concern. Please feel free to visit my website at http://landrieu.senate.gov for additional information on my legislative priorities.

With warm regards, I am

Sincerely,

Mary Landrieu

United States Senator

Our Rights

Landrieu's response is classic politician. I believe if her vote is needed to pass gun control she will vote for it.

I posted this in the Gun technical Section also.

Hornady has a letter they are circulating to be sent to your elected officials.

It only takes a minute to fill out the information. There are several ones that are similar. I am signing and sending everyone that comes available.

http://www.hornady.com/in-the-news/protect-your-rights.

Ignore your rights and they will go away.

Remember the next time somebody asks you if you need an AR-15, it is the Bill of Rights not the Bill of Needs.

Protection of Gun Rights

Thank you for sharing this link. I completed the information and hope that millions more American gun owners will do the same. I am against the senseless gun violence and feel very sad about the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elem school. However, this does not make it right to try to limit my constitutional rights to own firearms. I have owned some type of gun since I was 15 yrs old and I own guns today. I have never been in any trouble with the law. I feel like I need my firearm even more in today's violent sosiety to protect myself and family.

I'm grateful for companies like Ruger that are on the side of American citizens and their 2nd Amendment right to own and bear arms.
