How far up the Spillway are the fish kills? Any around the Sorrell area? I plan to fish the Shell Cuts area the next two weekends. The last time I went was two weeks ago and with the water around 2-2.5ft at the lock, the vegitation was getting thicker. Anyone know what the water quality is like since the storm?
Thanks JB, that is great to hear. The bite should be back on. I stopped by a South BR pond this morning and pulled 3 bass out in the 40 minutes I was there. I plan to go Sunday on the back end of this front (it's just when I can go), but the following weekend should be good with the new moon and what the forecast shows as consistency in weather.
Tboy, I did not see anything recent about the Sorrel area and the Fish Kill thread just wore me out.
I planned on hitting up pigeon Saturday since its not looking good for all my other spots!!

i made a trip to pigeon monday and everything north of pigeon (murphy, cross bayou, indigo, etc.) was black water with a horrible smell and dead carp and catfish everywhere. we managed to find good water in little pigeon around the texaco and slammed fish. the only bass that i saw that werent healthy were very black and very white at the same time and their eyes were bulging out of their heads. they looked like they had just gotten out of the black water. im not sure about sorrel but a friend of mine said it was pretty bad up there. finding good water is key
What is just as bad as a hurricane is AFTER the hurricane when the fish are stacked in the few places with good water, everybody and their momma goes and rapes the fish because they are easy to catch.THIS IS NOT A TIME TO FILL YOUR FREEZERS!!!!!! Go and have fun and catch fish, but please don't rape it just because you can.
Launched at pigeon around 5:30 went straight to big pigeon. Water looks pretty good in the bayou, banks are muddied up from all the boat traffic. Caught 30-35 only 5 keepers. Hooked a couple in grand lake but a few were caught pitching 9' zoom tequila sunrise worm in the morning on any structure. After lunch they couldn't let a chartreuse with black top & orange bottom crankbait pass them by. Little pigeon was its normal muddy water, saw 2 small gars floating around the cross bayou area. Over all the area looked better then my last outting back in mid August.
Fished the Shell Cuts on Sunday. Caught 16 bass on speed craws, kept 3. 10 of the 13 thrown back were 13.5'. Hate to throw them back, but had a blast catching fish of any size. Water was stained to muddy in areas. Only a few dead fish. Had a few more carp jump in the boat. Also caught lots of large choupique, google eye and a few gasper goo. Anybody eat gasper goo?
not good at all went to pigeon today caught 4 keepers and a fews babys and beware at pigeon landing there is some jerk unhooking peoples trailers and moving them away from your truck if anyone saw somebody doing this please let me know who it is i want to speak to them and some times i speak with my hands
