Hadn't seen much on surf My friend that live down there say its been slow summer surf, Reds in the Pass ummmm my brother caught some earlier in year, No Good Fishin@nite under the Lites off Bridge good trout some Big late@nite 2-4 AM Live Shrimp free line, croakers' Pogies, If youfish off bridge get on it from Fourchon Side Not Island side
I was just there last weekend for a large kayak tournament. Over 60 bull reds caught, tagged and released back into the Pass by the group. Plenty of under 27-inch reds also and a lot of Black Drum, Jacks and Sharks. Most were caught just off the end of the fishing pier on the Chenier side of the Pass.
White trout and specks (nothing large) were caught at night off of the pier on the island side and at the Bridgeside Marina pier. Small white plastics for specks and dead shrimp for the whites.
Bull reds were biting on cut mullet and cracked crab on a bottom rig.
The surf has been slow, but a few nice trout being caught in the early morning on topwater plugs.
Not sure about when the Island will reopen. Of course it all depends on what damage is sustained and when utilities and services are operable.
You might be suprised about the fishing. Post storm fishing can be very good. The rainwater is one thing, but storm surge of salty, clean, Gulf water can actually help out.
Of course all of our hope is that the storm brings minimal damage and everyone can get back to their lives and you can have some good fishing.
Good luck.
I haven't fished that area in awhile but I have spoke to others that have. Latest reports are fish the grandisle bridge at night for specks and white trout. If you fish the surf hit it early...be there before daylight. The pier at Ricky's is lit at night and should be good fishing also. Also there has been reports of some doing very well along side the road between Fourchon and Grandisle.
