Venice fishing report
Capt. Jerry Allen
Venice, LA USA
Tuna, Tuna, everywhere!?!
The only problem is that they are very seldom in the same place twice, or at least not for more than a couple of days. The good news is that if your willing to look for them for a bit, you will probably find them. The rest of the good news is that they are eating well later into the day, and a lot of them are BIG! The past couple of days we had several 100 lbs or better. the best coming in at 130lb.
The marlin are still around and eager to cooperate. We picked up a nice White Marlin one day and a buddy of ours picked up a Blue Marlin the next day from the same spot. Two other private boats bpicked up Blues as well.
Bait is still pretty easy to come by. Threadfin, Poggies, Crack, and Disco minnows are all there for the taking. The nice thing is the Tuna dont seem to have a preferance, all you need to do is find them and they will eat.
I guess the biggest problem we have had the past week was the weather. Seems like not long after we would get on the fish a storm would run us off. The nice thing was while we were running from one storm we would often times run across more fish.
The weather should straighten up after this last front pushes through band the fishing should only get better. The Tuna will keep getting bigger, the Cobia will only get thicker, and the AJ's are always eager to eat!
Gotta love Venice!!!
