For tuna even the big yellow fin in the Gulf I would go with the Penn 30VSW. Back it with braid and put a top shot on it. You will be able to catch all the tuna you want with that set up.
While all three are exceptional reels, I am inclined to spend my money on the front end instead of the back end. I get a hook up I want the fish on the boat as quick as possible not burning fuel and replacing tackle.
The Avet TRX 50 has a drag strike setting of 100 lbs and max at 116 lbs with a line capability of Braid 100 lbs test 1240 yards, and cost around $900
The Penn 50 VSW has a drag strike setting of 28 lbs and max at 45 lbs with a line capability of Braid 100 lbs test 1700 yards, and cost around $600
The Avet TRX 30 has a drag strike setting of 50 lbs and max at 70 lbs with a line capability of Braid 100 lbs test 1000 yards, and cost around $750.
The Penn 30 VSW as a drag strike setting of 23 lbs and max at 30 lbs with a line capability of Braid 100 lbs test 1125 yards and cost around $550.
The Fin Nor falls just below the Avets on drag and yardage and are in line with the Penns on pricing.
Basically Landshark do your research and decide what you want your reel to do. Do you want to have one reel for Tuna one for AJ another for Grouper etc. Do you want to fight the fish or pull in meat. Is purchase price a consideration... we all have our favorite brands and class of gear, know yours and buy accordingly. If you are unsure of what to buy, book a trip Capt. Pellagrin, the knowledge you will gain on fishing tactics, rigging and gear will be worth every penny.
Now all you need to do is load the baby up with Jerry Brown Hollow Core 130Lb with a 100lb top shot, and start catching the big boys! Again I dont know your experiance level but anytime you fish with a Guide you will learn something new, just sayin.....
