Bass Fishing in South Central Louisiana
Bayou Pigeon 8/5/12
I was sitting at home this afternoon after church with nothing to do and decided to take another fishing trip to bayou pigeon. Called up my buddy and we were off for another adventure. Got to the launch around 4ish and had to wait out the thunderstorms for a good 45 minutes but we were in the water fishing at around 5:15. Fished until 8:15 and we landed 28 bass but only 5 of them kept. Same ol story, every single bass out there is 13 1/2 inches. Reminds me of the struggle on Henderson except not as severe. Fish didn't seem to want my red shad worm that much today. Caught all of our fish in the Crossover fishing the points leading into dead end canals and other canals using watermelon color baby brush hogs. If you go fish pigeon within the next few days, the fish are off the banks a bit right now. I was getting most of my hits about 10 to 15 feet off the bank. A few of my friends in another boat caught 25 bass all on ribbet frogs with 5 of them making the 14 inch limit. Im heading back out there in the morning to see if i can make it all the way out to Grand Lake with the water being as low as it is right now. Trying to get on some bigger fish but every day is the same story. around 30 bass a day, may not be huge but im not complaining
