Bass Fishing in South Central Louisiana
Bayou Pigeon
I started fishing the spillway out of bayou pigeon and bayou sorrel about a month ago and i have been fishing it religiously ever since then. I have been fishing it at least 3 times a week and have had some great success. All I have been doing is running around dead end canals looking for clean water and the fish have been waiting for me. Ive been catching plenty of keeper bass with a few throwbacks mixed in. The bigger fish are biting in deeper water bumping worms on the bottom. The late afternoon bite with a ribbet frog or a white buzz bait around the grass lines in the lakes. The bream are all over the place just bring some crickets and you're pretty much guaranteed to bring home as many bream as you want. I am yet to find the sac a lait but i havent really fished hared for them. With the weather being so hot im sure they are holding in deeper water ive just gotta find some structure. Ive been looking for some bass tournaments in the area but havent really found anything coming up soon. Good luck fishing out there guys and be safe

Man u come a long way from that day floating down the red river with a blownup motor.lol Great to see u enjoying success and paying us back with great reports. The crappie are not all deep this time of year, in fact most freshwater lakes in la. have very little oxygen below couple feet deep. Get u some blue/white jigs and stroll VERY SLOWLY with ur trolling motor in about 6-7 ft of water and u will catch them. Me and a friend catch 100 before dinner any day. Thanks for the post, i'm sure it will help lots of folks. May have to stay away on weekends now.lol
