I myself think it would be a great idea to really crack down on these scum.
One thing I think would work is to whack any ad that someone lists like a 2007 24' Cabin Cruiser for $12,000 and the person does not leave a phone number.
This would cut down on a bunch of scams.
I would recommend anyone wanting an item to not respond to a too good to be true item if no phone number is listed.
MOJO
There has got to be something we can do to fight back..... I say we copy their e-mail address and post mock adds on craigslist for weird pets for sale? Bearded dragons, chinchillas, ext.... Or maybe something like free firewood or something.... I imagine they would get tired of e-mail asking what color chinchilla they had for sale or where they could come pick up the fire wood.
Just a thought haha.
Just delete them, it is obvious which ads are scams. Requiring phone # in ad is a good solution to stop them. And yes the commercial ads is out of hand. One auto dealer has 37 ads, come on, that is rediculous to even allow that. I understand they pay to advertise but they should be limited. Either the website is making a killing off the business ads or the businesses is saving a whole lot for cheap advertisements with all the ads they each post.
Hi,
Thank you for being interested in my 2000 KEY WEST 19FT CENTER CONSOLE. The boat is in immaculate condition, rust free, no damages, the title is under my name, free of any liens or loans on it. Everything looks like pictures show's. I am selling it at this price ($4,399) because I just finished my divorce and owned this boat, Is not needed so I decide to sell it, Right now I've moved into my new house in London United Kingdom starting a new career. The boat is still in the states. I want this transaction to go smoothly enough as I got a new job and I'm working 12 hours a day and I have little time at my disposal, So I intend to use AliExpress Escrow (Buyer Protection Program) as third party if you are interested.
For more pictures with the boat please go to: http://postimage.org/gallery/czucdkk/dad20d4e/
Thank you and If you are interested get back to me on this email address.
Regards!
I just deleted three more bogus ads. We will try our best to delete these fake ads but I am sure by the time you read this and check out the classifieds that more will have shown up.
So keep in mind that scammers are out there and supplying you with false information is not a problem for them, including phone numbers, addresses etc.
So NEVER pay anything even if it is just a down payment until you have seen the merchandise in person.
email addresses are free.
phone numbers are easy to type and easy to acquire temporarily.
pictures are free.
post on a message board are free.
So exorcize a little skepticism, snake oil salesmen have been around for a long time and aren't going away anytime soon.

I replied to the ad and got an identical reply to the one above.
If you check the profile of the ads in question, you will find that the User is typically a member for less than 24 hours. What might cut down on false Ads is a few requirements such as a user must post on the site a few times (2-5 times) and you need a profile that is at least 6 months old.
I can tell you that the business ads are way more aggrivating than the scammers. I know when a deal is too good to be true, but to have to go through 57 ads from .... is a major pain. Please, please put a tab somewhere that these businesses can put all the classified ads they want to and if I need one of their services or products, I will click on the tab and go look at what they have to offer. Some of the ones I'm referring to are Big-Bucks-Trucks, Catch Dat Too, Bayou Auto Sales, Moby Marine, GeauxBassBuckNDuck, Boardwalk Motors, etc. I probably left out a few as well. There should be a page or something for businesses that want to list their complete inventories, but the classifieds should be for individuals with one or two things to sale. I notice that other businesses have ads that you can click on, maybe these businesses should do the same. BTW, thanks for a great site.
caramizdesa@msn.com IS A SCAM IN THE ATV SECTION. Contacted via email with the same BS story that she is in divorce and has moved to London. Bomb these a-holes with emails!!! Send email to caramizdesa@msn.com
speck - I understand what you are trying to say. My whole issue is these people are criminals. Allowing a criminal to be a criminal is being part of the problem. Once again, I bring up drug dealers. I do not smoke crack, never have, never will. Should I look the other way when I see someone trying to sell crack? No I should not. Allowing a criminal to be a criminal is wrong.
Thank you,I'll take care of it.
