You can go to the old ferry landing in St. Francisville or on the Point Coupee side and fish there. You may get lucky, but unless you know the backwoods and trails it's hard to get to the great spots.

...if you new at this use caution...many,many places have ledges that collapse into the deep abyss !!! cheer

There place off behind the levee in WBR Parsih over off levee road by Cline ole Store use to be there years ago.Or by ole Miss Riv Bridge on Westside

Its hard to go to the WBR side at port allen BC most of the areas are gated off by Port Authority or the chem plants.... i dont kow where the store you are talkin about it... can you enlighten me?? I live in Port Allen lol

Be very very careful about where you choose to go bank fishing along the Mississippi River. Some posts here mentioned going over the levee. You just can't do that without risking arrest for trespassing. The land along the Mississippi River is owned by private owners, companies, etc and your being there subjects them to liability that they're not willing to risk.

Also, as others here have said, be very careful of the edges, strong currents and deep muck that suddenly gives way under foot.

Just use common sense, look for places of public access (i.e. under bridges, etc) and give it a try.

Depending on where you live you can also try the north side of cat island. Lots of people catfish there.

go across ole Bridge if you're from EBR, If not&you're from Port Allen Area. Drive to the ole Bridge go under it as u pass under it there Ramp goin up levee , Yea there a gate there But you can walk to the River Park off Side Ramp that would be on the North side the Bridge Also u can Fish south side if you find a place you can get to the water edge w/all the Williows tree there, So w/ lil efford you can get there&fish

True Cat Island easy xcess from off Angola Road drive right up to the River my Dad has a Camp there

The old Ferry Landing is still a great spot no matter any time in St Francisville. If you out to the sand bars past all the old dredging machinery there is a sand bar that points to Bayou Sara. I caught many large catfish and some nice gar there

Port Allen. At the end of Court Street they have a levee park with parking and easy access. Never fished there, but can't be bad for soaking bait for cats.
