the lake isnt deep at all, the fish see you and know you are there so its extra important that you stay very quiet and make as little noise as you can.
just dropping achor will send a big dust cloud up in the water and spook the fish so if you are dropping anchor do it slowly like its glass dropping on cement so it doesnt make noise or desturb the bottom.
if you can stop the motor about 20-25 yards from where you want to be and drift into your spot.
even if you do all this the fish will notice that big object overhead above them so they get nervous and it takes 5 or 10 minutes for them to ignore you and start feeding again so 15-20 minutes should be devoted to each set of pilings before deciding to move on.
finally there are times when the fish just arent biting so if you strike out in the morning try back that evening and you will usually find success.
in the hotest part of the day from 10am-2pm the redfish will be very tight to the pilings on the shaded side and i mean tight, i have had to fish within inches of them snap jigging straight up to get action. for some reason there is usually only 1 or 2 redfish per set of pilings so if you catch 2 then its safe to move on. i think they are just bullies and drive off the other fish from 'thier' pilings
The lake is not an easy place to fish really. If you ever watch only a few people consistently post good reports on the lake here on sportsman.
