that guys right. if your catching aj's you can catch snapper. not the other way around. Not many ajs in the wd70s. small ones start showing up in the 90s and continue to deeper water... as a rule of thumb, start at 125 ft with live hardtail and work done to 200. Or just dive down and put a shaft though one. Just not now, season closed, and theres no catch and release this way...
Actually the opposite is true if you are catching AJ you should also catch Red Snapper. In my experience AJ will typically be found in 150 to 300 depths. They usually will hang between 100 feet to 200 feet and absolutely love live hard tails, but will also aggressively attack a butterfly jig as will red snapper. I don’t fish the WD 70s often enough to recall the depth but if your not in at least 150 to 175 depth I wouldn’t even try for AJ.
