Kayak Fishing in Southwest Louisiana

Lake Charles Trip

Looking for a good Kayak spot for trout or reds. I Live in Gonzales, LA but my home town is Kinder,LA so I know the area pretty well but I have never fished the area. So long story short looking for a good spot I was thinking of fishing Calcasieu river where it dumps in to the Gulf? Any advice about the area or any other spot recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

I would stay away from the mouth of of the river,
alot of large boat traffic in the area also can get very rough when the tide gets running through the jetty I think there's a yak launch some where on the west side of big lake. good luck great place to fish
