THE DUDLEY REEF IN LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN
~ Captain Paul's response to: ~ Im Hooked ~
The artificial reef in Lake Pontchartrain named the Dudley Reef, is located near the south side of the lake between I-10 and the Highway 11 bridge.
The South Shore Twin Span Lake Pontchartrain NOAA Disaster Grant, DOTD, & CCA Reef, named the Dudley Reef, is actually in Orleans parish. It is the closest reef to the Eden Isles area. It is made from Bridge Rubble from the old twin spans.
The center of the area is at or about 30° 10.169’ N ~ 89° 50.744’ W. and is about 4 miles at a bearing of 223° Magnetic from the opening of The Eden Isles Channel at Grand Lagoon. The reef is marked by yellow buoys on each corner of the rectangle.
When in that area, give the rail road trestles and the highway 11 bridges a try. The fish were hitting a silver sided with a blue top Rattle Trap lure.
Good luck.
