Freshwater Fishing in Southeast Louisiana
Basin bream
Fishing Fridays! Its a new term around the office and Andy Crawford, our editor, was gracious enough to invite me to do some field research (my story and I'm sticking to it)last Friday. If you were on the water that day you know it was perfect weather - a slight breeze with a little north front that left the humidity tolerable.
We left out of Doiron's in Stephensville at the crack of dawn and headed out to Andy's honey hole. Sorry I'm sworn to secrecy! 200 live crickets, a ultralight spinning outfit, and a slip cork set up and it was on from virtually our first cast to the last cricket.
I'm talking bull bream and google eye. Beautiful fish and about as fun as a man is allowed to have. 107 bream later and we called it a day before nooon. Later that night we all got to watch LSU battle ULM and eat 'em. What a treat! I fillet some, scaled some and then filleted, and scaled 'em and headed and gutted. My favorite was the old time method of the whole fish fried. Slept good that night.
Andy should have a video in a day or two from that day.

Thanks for sharing with us Andy. I watched your video...the intro of catching fish was awesome. Great advice for others seeking to catch bream in the Atchafalaya Basin.
My wife and I have enjoyed several trips with great success. Bream and goggle-eye can be caught by anyone with a cricket.
