I just bought a boat a few months ago and got it all tuned up and running great now so now I'm venturing a little further out down to Little Lake and Barataria Bay. Still learning where to go. Mainly using dead Shrimp under cork. Tried a few Berkley Gulps. Been going down Bayou Rigolettes through the Harvey Cut where a lot of boats were fishing last time, stopped and tried at the cut but no luck, I could see people catching though. Headed down to Turtle Bay caught a few around Long Bay headed to Little Lake then to Barataria Bay around St. Mary's point. From what I was told Fresh water diversion pushes the Specks down further into saltier water like Little Lake and Barataria Bay I have only caught 3 so far. From what I can tell Reds can be up higher up in the less salty water. I'm learning to look for grass beds (reds), cuts, oyster reefs marked by poles, birds diving 'none yet' (specks). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated: Where and what to look for rising or falling tides and what should I be using other than shrimp. I had a boat years ago but a lot has changed, especially the landscape. Thank you, Lonnie - Marrero, LA
