FIVE WELLS
The area called FIVE WELLS is an oval in shape and is about .6 of a mile in diameter. There are there are two larger wells and three smaller platforms.
They are or were located at a position that was referenced by the end of the southern side of the MRGO rocks.
As of this time, the Corps of Engineers is removing OR HAS removed all of Aids to navigation in the MRGO and the end of the rocks may no longer be a visible landmark. Knowing that, it will benefit you to know that end of the rocks on the south side of the MRGO was at or about 29° 37.738’ N. lat ~ 89° 19.295’ W. long.
I suggest that you save this position as it will mark the beginning of what was the deepened MRGO channel.
The group referred to as FIVE WELLS is located about 4.5 miles almost due south of the end of the rock jetty on the southern side of the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO). (29° 37.738’ N. lat ~ 89° 19.295’ W. long.)
I believe that all of the platforms are still at the location, but it is possible that one could have been moved.
The northern most of the wells ( KM-BS-SL-1227-9) is located at or about 29° 33.855’N. Lat. ~ 89° 19.198’W. long. The southern most of the wells, (KM-BS-SL-1227-6) is located at or about 29° 33.399’N. Lat. ~ 89° 19.446’ W. long.
All of the platforms can be seen from any one of the five well positions.
Unless otherwise specified all positions are stated as H,DDD,MM.mmm and were determined using WGS 84 DATUM. All Headings/bearings/courses are stated in Magnetic Degrees.
