I don't blame him. I HATE when people show pics of bass, especially when it's from an area I like to fish. It's not that those people are keeping fish, I don't mind that. What makes me cringe is the amount of people these days that sit around and wait to hear a good report to decide where to go. There is no more going somewhere blind and figuring out for yourself. Look at the spillway. The only time people are there is when Joe Macaluso gives a positive report in Thursday's Advocate.
Listen to this, I have a buddy that REFUSES to go somewhere unless he is following me or another guy. I could be fishing a tournament and he will want to follow me. Problem is, he keeps everything. If he catches fish, he will go back everyday and keep every fish until he quits catching them. I leave today to go to north Louisiana to fish for the next 5 days. I have a tournament Saturday. This guy is NOT fishing the tournament but wants to come up there and follow me. I told him that I will not be fishing this particular lake before the tournament because I know where the fish are and I don't want to burn em up. He says, AND I QUOTE 'If you don't fish the lake, then how am I going to know if the fish are there when I come up Friday?' WTH?!?!?!?!?
People anymore don't want to learn for themselves. All they want to do is have someone do all the work for them and call them when the pickings are good.
Someone posted on here a month ago about how he wanted to go to the spillway. He wanted people to go and give him reports on where they caught and how. He said he didn't want to waste his money if the fish weren't biting!! He wanted everyone else to waste their money for him.
You want to kill the bite in a particular area? Tell people, that'll take care of it...
well, i would say that if it is a spot that you found on your own then u can tell the world if u so choose, but if it is a spot that someone showed you, you should only give the results of your subsequent trips to the original 'spot finder'.......having said that, not everybody has 5 days to go scout for fish, so a little helpful information goes a long way for people who have to work and want to put their kids/families on fish.........soooo for those who are interested, my family and i limited out on specs at a reef in barataria bay a couple miles north of independence island sunday morning on shrimp and minnows with an incoming tide......good luck
He is a friend of a friend. But that's not the issue. I have never fished with this guy and just met him a couple months ago. I grew up in des Allemands. There isn't a grass bed or stump I don't know about there. My point is ... I work all week long and can only fish on the weekends. I didnt say where I caught them in des Allemands. I could care less if 50 people fished that spot after. I don't usually fish the same lake twice in a row anyway. I used to be mad at them bass and want catch every one of em. But my son is getting into it and I want him to enjoy the sport. Funny how kids make you see things in a different light. My son was with me that day and got a kick out of seeing the post on the website. I would never result to violence.... Althought I have put a few people to sleep. But he is my fishing partners relative so I'll just bite my tongue.
its public water you can do what want..
i feel finding the fish is just as rewarding as catching. if you can't find fish you shouldn't be fishing.
I put a lot of time and effort into finding them and freshwater fishing is a hell of a lot different than saltwater. Your NEVER gonna wipe out the specs and the area you can fish them is overwhelming. Bass on the other hand i usually fish a particular spot, not an area and thats the reason I don't post my catches. If a friend asks I'll tell him what general area and bait, but I will never post that info on a public forum. There are just way too many lurkers that as said before are just waiting on the info to see where to fish.
Do I like when people post nice fish catching in an area that i'm on fish, nope sure don't, but there is nothing I can do, so I don't let it bother me.
but the word about the place has definitely spread. I see it there and on forums. People are heading that way that never fished it before and its only because of forum posts.
I sacalait fish mainly and take other people on occasion . Well sacalait don't stay in the same place all the time , but you do have to
Know what your looking for to find them .
I took a coworker fishing once and didn't find them right away but eventually did , and ended up with 60 fish . We could only find fish between these two stumps in the whole area , that was where they were that day .
The following week I went back with my regular fishing buddy and saw my coworkers truck and boat trailer at the
Launch ... Lol well me and my regular fishing buddy didn't have to go far to find fish and we caught about 30 right off
The bat . But I knew that my coworker was back down there fishing between those two stumps where we caught fish the week before . So me an my fishing buddy stopped
Fishing just to go ride and see if he was really there . And sure enough there he was hung up on one of the
Stumps ... Lol I asked him how many he had and he said none .
So in my book you can tell people where to go To like the spillway but doesn't mean everyone will catch fish because a lot of people just go because that's where everybody is catching fish ... You have to know a lil bit about what you are doing to catch fish .
If he asked me politely-- id probably do as requested . If he commanded I would have told him off and offered any form of satisfaction he wanted with whatever tools of violence he preferred .
