A free QDMA field day and scoring event is scheduled for June 2 at the Cottonport Bank Camp near Marksville from 9 a.m. to about 1 p.m.
Scoring will be performed by LDWF biologists.
Speakers will include:
* Rod Pinkston, owner of Jager Pro Hog control Systems (www.jagerpro.com). Rod will be discussing professional hog control techniques and will have traps and hog control equipment set up so that you can actually see how their state of the art equipment works.
* Rans Thomas, owner of Thomas Resources - Wildlife and Land Enhancement, Inc (and formerly head biologist for Tecomate) will be discussing property lay out and design and how to maximize your habitat to improve wildlife.
* Walter Cotton, professional trapper with USDA Wildlife Service, will be demonstrating effective coyote trapping techniques and how to imporve your coyote trapping efforts.
* Scott Durham, LDWF Deer Study Leader, Tony Vidrine, LDWF Regional Biologist, and other LDWF deer biologists will be on hand to measure any deer head or rack brought to the event. They will also be available to answer any questions you may have about deer management and biology.
Lunch will be served.
