I forwarded your post to the site management so they can be aware.
While there are lots of good deals on the classifieds, all users need to be cautious. There are a lot of dirty people who use the internet to scam people. They come up with new schemes everyday.
The old saying about 'if it sounds too good to be true......' is more applicable in today's online world than ever.
There are some low down dirt bags scamming everywhere. Unfortunately, it is the good guys that bite the bait every now and then. Usually it is the ATV section that has the scams, not the truck section. I would send this one to the FBI cyber crime unit based in New Orleans for review. Its probably too late to catch them now, but worth the try.
Not always the 'fools', but everyone cannot be as smart as you Drew. Funny though, look in the classifieds right now under ATV. There is a 2011 Yamaha Rhino 700 4x4 for sale $2500. It is a $10K + atv and the guy will ship it to you (after you send the money). heres his email... daniel_thompson37@hotmail.com
...the more a political group financially chokes a society w/over taxing, red tape, double talk and no employment...scams and other 'things' will continue !!!...'ya should see the national crime stats w/all the 'up' percentages from Bushy thru Obammo !!!...Gen.Colin Powell would'a and should'a been the 'Best Man'...(there's many rumors he didn't like either one of'em )???...cheers
Too often I will crusie the site and find the 2009 model $9000 jetski for sale at $2500 bucks,, od the tractor I just sent alert to Andy on,, a $25,000 trator for $2500 bucks.... it's sad these people take people hard earned money.
Meeting face to face after a phone call is the only way to go unless you know the person.
I have purchased many items off this site with very good results. Just do your diligent homework up front.
If someone has a low post count on here, approach cautiously my friend !
Congratulations Coonass, you just lost the internet.
Nahh man,I was scammed out of $1000 a long time ago on Ebay.
Long before I knew anything about Western Union and their money policies.
Tell us this, why exactly did you not heed the warnings posted right on the classified page here on LASM?
If it were mandatory to put a phone number on the ad it would cut down on a lot of the scam ads in my opinion. But a bit of advice for the future, simply respond to any ad that doesnt have a phone number with 'call me about whatever it is they have for sale' and leave your number. If they cant find a way to call you and speak to you then they are full of sh**! Another obvious and easy way to tell a scammer is to look at their member sign up date on their profile page. A scammer always has a brand new account. Like Yuns35 with his colt 1911 for $750. No phone number on his ad, wont call me, and has been a member for 1 day equals full of sh**!
I saw all the signs that it was a scam when it was too late. I guess I was just blinded because I was in desperate need to find my dad a reliable truck at an affordable price because of our financial situation. Being young, inexperienced, and having too much faith in people got me hook, lined, and caught like all the fish I catch. Now I know how the fish feel....
And I'm disappointed in myself because I let my dad down...lessons learned the hard way.
...any military transactions you can call the 'Post Locator' and verify if the name/rank/station is ledgit...then make a effort to speak w/him thru his C/O before going to a middle man that 'ONLY YOU' choose...that was the route 40 years ago,but with TDY razzle w/some of these brass meatheads it may be a little different...cheers
P/S...Coonazz V...when 'ya see it,admit it,then learn from it...you will be the best man...cheers again !!!
I had a man and a teenager come to my house to look at my atv i am selling and the man let the teeager do all the talking and said he would call me later that night as soon as he had the cash in his hand as he was leaving he said ill just let you and my son talk. well his son or who ever he was txted me that night and the next day and said his day was really interested and that his dad said he needed my account number to transfer the money , well that didnt happen. I guess he figured he would use the teenager to try to make me think or not feel i was going to get scammed, well he was wrong. We need to all look out for each other. Thanks to all who report these idiots.
Yea I sent Yuns35 an e-mail asking about the 1911 and the response was that he came to LA for business and then the next day I got an e-mail saying he was about to catch a plane and leave for me to send the $700 and when he got the money he would send the gun to my FFL dealer, needless to say I didn't respond back because I just know that the gun would have been on the way to me once he got my money! HAHA
you got to be kidding??? don't trust any type of anything in new orleans??? i just don't get it, how can you buy a truck from california, from louisiana on the internet, without actually seeing it, in person??? beats me??? a picture??? an address?? we have become so easy!!! we, not me, i mean you!!!
That sucks. Buyer beware on the classifieds!
