Capt Paul, I have been looking for a handheld GPS in the $300 - $400 range and not really sure which one i need? I want to purchase your waypoints for the Cypremort Point area and it will be mostly used for fishing. Garmin 62s, 78 and Lowrance endura have caught my eye, but not really sure what I'm looking at. I know your the pro, which one you purchase and any help would be appreciated.

My next hand held GPS unit will be the Garmin GPSMAP 62. I am not quite sure if I want the top of the line unit with the camera and other features, but I will ONLY consider the 62 series that has a “T” designation. The T means that the unit is loaded with 100.000 scale topo type maps of the entire U.S. I will also order the TOPO 24K SouthEast to supplement the internal maps and possibly the Blue Chart maps for the coastal areas.
I prefer topo type maps over marine charts, UNLESS you are fishing a distance Offshore. Then you should have marine type charts for the area.
The GPSMAP62 series is an excellent unit, but so are the others. Either should suit your needs, but I personally prefer the feel of the 62 units.
