Inshore Fishing in Lake Pontchartrain / Northshore in Southeast Louisiana

Slidell Pier

Watch for snags when fishing the new pier in slidell! Stick to jigging the pilings and fishing under a cork!

they put concrete rip rap between the two spams to create a reef , only thing was they should have had it crushed to smaller pieces as the snags are going to be bad , but with the bait /tackle shop maybe that was in the plans ------------I can see the waters of the Lake will be lead poisioned in the near future ( sarcasism ) I am surprized that no tree hugger organization has tried to banned lead sinkers yet ( shhhhhhh)

great information

How deep is the water? Were people catching good fish? What bait was catching the fish?

' Two Too Skinny Handicap Sites'

...in a park'n blueprint for 100 trucks and cars I think it's 10% for handicap parking which would be 20 slots...(wide enough to open opposite doors fully)...it will be interesting to see how their 'mental planning' plays out in 6 to 12 months...also,one would think the short-changed Vets and soaked Seniors should be free of any useage charges...remember,we still lead the nation w/shifty laws, fines, dirty deeds, jail terms and political double-talk...guess I been out in the weather too long ???...cheers

This problem is all over the lake

This is the main reason that most old pro's fish the sliding cork set up it works great with a place with rocks and trash.

When is the planned opening for the pier? Do they have a site you can go to find out the progress of the project and what all the pier will offer? I have bits and pieces about the new pier but haven't seen anything on it. Where will the parking be are do the have areas on the bridge to park are where can I find the plans to look at?

The first 600 ft or so of the pier opened the other day. It's 3 bucks to fish and 1 buck to go hang out and not fish. I believe kids under 12 are free. I do agree with an earlier poster that seniors and military should be free.

No driving on pier

Leave it to St Tammany to screw up a good thing!! They removed the first few sections and built it back out of wood so you can't drive on it. Pretty CRAPPY if you ask me. They should've done it like FLs pier.

idiot proof

My guess is they thought it out and decided to stop the morons from ruining the pier for those that do not own four wheelers, golf carts, or other means of transportation to threaten life and limb of the pedestrians. Good move

Ever see some of dem Schwegmann's buggy's on da side of da road?
Next time grab one and toss it in the back of ya truck. I have one that i use to haul all my gear when pier fishing and also to haul everything for the Parades. Saves time ,money and my back.

The one in FL I am referring to you can drive your truck on it. Leave your gear in the back of the pickup. Set the rods up right there in the bed. Add an umbrella and a lawn chair and your SET!!
