Seen about 75 teal in biloxi marsh about 2 weeks ago and a lot of mottles.. seen good numbers of greys up until mid march jumping some hundred in flocks..marsh looks good and ldwf just resigned the lease with biloxi land corp for 25 more years lol looks like alot of ducks in trouble for long time.

Aww come on!Im havin a hard enough time waitin till duck season now yall gonna talk about seein ducks lol! I have been workin on a new mudboat for this year,gna go try it out soon.Will post what I see.

A few weeks ago I saw a group of about 10 ducks 60 miles offshore. I couldn't believe it. Had several avid hunters on the boat. Nobody had seen anything like that. The very next day I saw another group forty miles out. Anybody have any clue what kind they might have been? Both groups were northbound.

Saw what looked to be a spoony cupping into a rice field near the lacassine exit off i10 yesterday. Crossed the highway overhead grabbing my attention, circled once, and then went straight in almost hovering about 10 feet off the ground. Wouldve made for a great shot

Man I'm starting to wonder if they're ever gonna head back up this year. We are still seeing alot of birds in the crawfish and rice fields down here around erath and delcambre. Mostly Teal and spoonies. Took a ride the other day to one of our leases in the marsh around the Boston canal and there still were birds everywhere. Also went pick up a couple sacks of crawfish from a buddy in Maurice yesterday aseeger said you wouldnt believe the teal they still have holding in that area. A month ago when they were planting rice they were having to use propane guns to keep em off the seed.

Have not made it out to farm to check on ducks or take pics but was surprised this AM by 2 wood ducks in my backyard. They took off out tree, I whistled and they came back and dropped into coulee behind fence. The hen then jumped back up and flew into a box I had on fence-I almost had given up on box and was thinking of removing. All this near one of Lafayette's busier streets. Really need to get a wood duck box initiative along the Vermillion-or for that matter around any pond/coulee/bayou. So far the 2012 hatch sounds good all over with second nestings very possible. Hope it translates into a good season-weather is the key factor.

Fulvous, Black bellies, Wood ducks and Mottleds.

A couple of weeks ago after a hard rain a couple of black bellies landed in my neighbors front yard. I am going to post the pics after I get home. It was the coolest thing! They just landed in this little puddle right across the road. Within 60 yards of my house and 20 yards from his.

Wood storks have made it into the area in good numbers. Also spotted a mottle and 3 squealers in drained fields. Doves also in good numbers. A member saw some mallards at the deer camp-turned out to be a bunch of baby turkeys-that was good for a laugh.
