You have to hug thr right shoreline, right up against the grass. That happened after they blocked and filled in canals in the area. Also filled in Grand Bayou pass, dont no how that is gonna help anything, that couple miles of beach and canal system is the only area they messed with, didnt see the point of doing it.
I fish bay Washington, Bay Robin a lot but when you head into the the pass in pipe Bay headed to bay chaland that whole pass has a sand bar in the middle of it covered with 4' of water, I found that along the grass line was the only passable area, but that would run out or turn shallow. There is a new camp half way through that cannel on the right with large boats with deep v's but I think they access it from a side canel, I had my dept finder on and I found no water deeper then 4ft, My 18ft shallow v express bay will scoot through 4-5' of water and I had to get out of the boat and drag it over sand bars, almost got it stuck more then once had motor slapping 3' water while pulling with all I had!!! I worked my way to the pass and motored as far as I could but could find no canel only 4-5' of water till your out in the breakers and if that is high tide, low tide would get scary or force you to motor all the way to the Burus pass or the other way around through bay long. If you go that way be careful and take 'extra fuel' Its to bad I use to motor through there and fish the beaches all the time and when the trout are on the beaches !! it was a great pass to trash the trout!!!
Left side is a big sandbar, I had to push pole a carolina skiff off it, wasnt but about a foot deep there. Right side is channel with the deepest at about 9ft. Just have to go slow thru the area. I do see workboats checking the platforms around there, guess they know where to run! I think it filled in after they closed canal and filled in Grand Bayou pass and things just dont flow like they used to.
Went though Bayou Chaland last fall to fish the beaches wow Shallow after katrina impassable, even with my express bay, if you do get through the main pass at low tide is land!!!! or 4' max, to fish 4 bayou stay in the inter bays head south!!
