The fishing 'down the river' is sure starting to heat up!! Sunday was a total scratch as the wind was hitting 41 mph at the Sw Pass Pilot station. Those are not conditions I felt comfortable taking customers out in....especially with the fact that they had two kids coming along. Saturday was close to a loss with the low pressure system that parked over Venice. It let us just enough for us to get a couple hours in. Despite the conditions, we brought in over 100 pounds of fish to the cleaning tables!!! Leading up that that messy weather the fishing was absolutely fabulous. Obviously some days are better than others, but there certainly were no days even resembling bad ones! With the new moon I figured it would be a good week and my customers were not disappointed! Lots of trout up to 5 pounds and more redfish than you can count! No live bait available yet so all fish have been caught on plastic, mostly under a cork and most on opening night. Now that we are past the new moon and working toward that early May full moon, you can bet the trout bite is about to get SERIOUS!! Couple that with the falling river and I assure you some 7-9 pound trout will be caught in the next two weeks. Dont be surprised if a 10 pounder is brought to the Venice dock either! There truly is no place like VENICE. I have an opening this Thursday and next Tuesday. Those are the only two days I have available until JULY! Don't miss out....Come fish the number 1 location with the number 1 guide service! captbrandon@bellsouth.net
I've been out to Breton twice and have not caught a trout yet. Last year was STELLAR out there....so far this year its been SLOW. I know some people have caught them in the last month, but its way more misses than hits.
have you been to breton island yet?!!!!!
