You really should consider having a reproduction mount done. Big bulls like that contain a lot of oil in their heads and fin base. Even the best of taxidermist will have difficulty getting all the oil out.
Go take a look at any older skin-mount bulls you find. I guarantee you will see the orange oil spots bleeding through the paint. Look at the throat, around the gill plates and at the base of the lower fins. Gravity will cause the oil to collect in the lower portions of the mount over the years.
You are going to pay several hundred dollars to get that fish mounted whether you get a reproduction or a skin mount. Getting a good reproduction done will look as good as the original fish and last a lifetime.
Thanks for the advice. I will be stopping by David's tomorrow to look at some of his mounts. A few people also recommended a guy out of White Castle. The red was caught w/ a half cracked crab and shrimp combo. Guess he couldn't resist the seafood platter. He measured 47' and weighted 36 lbs. Felt heavier but it's seems they always feel heavier then they really are. thanks again.
that is a beautiful fish, although as already discussed the oil will be a problem in time. reproduction is the way to go. not only in the face region, the lines in each scale that are usually visible are also oil. this helps to keep the from freezing in really cold climates. feel

Beautiful fish man, but they do have a good point about the oil.
This fish was 50 inches and just over 51Lbs. I brought it to a very good taxidermist in early 2002, and it took him until mid 2003 to drain enough oil to finish the mount. Even after all that time a little yellowing appeared about a year later (see 2nd pic. Thankfully it never got any worse than this.
But either way it will come out great. My real gripe is that i don't think the colors were bright enough after the mount was finished.
