Been a while since I posted a report, so I figured
I'd let everyone know whats happening down the
river in Venice.
As you might expect, the weather this time of year
dictates what we can and cant do. The good thing
is that Venice is not nearly effected by the weather
as other places. We just have so many places to
hide. Now with that being said, the trout bite is
DEFINITELY tougher on the windy days. Several
days Redfish have been the ticket....and thats been
EASY! This past week most days saw over 100
redfish a day come on to my boat! I've actually
had to find them in some areas that a little out of
the norm, but none the less, we have been
smoking them daily.
The trout bite hasn't been as steady, but some
good fish are being caught....especially on the
better weather days. Opening night under a
popping cork has been the ticket, but tight lining
jigs has also produced.
With the river dropping like a rock clean water is
getting easier to find. Water temps are running
from 72-74 degrees so you can expect some big
spawners at any minute.
Been running the American Aluminum 24 for the
past couple weeks now, and all I can say is WOW!!
Absolutely the smoothest and driest ride of ANY
bayboat I've ever stepped foot in. The boat fishes
and maneuvers like a bay hull, but rides more like
an offshore boat! All of my customers have been
BLOWN away by the boat. I cant believe I waited
this long for this boat!!
