Went last weekend and the water is muddy and high. Nothing was biting.

FYI ... Becareful on the ramp at Freds..Its not in the best condition. If you do launch there, try to stay as close to the pier as you can when launching. 1 mile up the road is Big Johns Boat Storage and Launch. $5, but its a really nice launch and is great shape.

Rivers will be getting a little muddy since the last couple days of rain. If you are heading to Bayview from Freds, keep on going south on hwy 16 to hilltop or canal bank club, launch there. Head SE(left or downstream) in the diversion canal, to the first waterway on the right, that's Petite Amite. That will take you out to blind river and other smaller waterways. Better fishing down there when river is muddy at Freds, due to all the swamps filtering the waters in the lower areas.

do yall know if the boat launch by freds is public or does it cost anything to launch there. and is there anywhere close by there to get bait like crickets or worms! thanks

Freds is a free public launch. I dont know if the store at the launch sells bait or not.

There is a bait shop that is with in a mile of Fred's on the Livingston side of the river, north of where hwy 42 meet hwy 16 in port Vincent. There is also a boat launch at bayside that isn't in the best shape either ($5 launch fee). But he carries shiners, crickets, and worms.

I was told the little bait shop recently closed. Parkers grocery on Hwy 16 and Hwy 447 sells shiners, I don't know about worms or crickets. Ask the cashier up front or call ahead for more info.

That bait shop is still open. I have got bait from him a few time in the past 3 weeks. He opens a 6 a.m.

Well i think that theres a bait shop right there on the conor by freds i bought some bait there i did fish by freds i fish tickfaw and the natalbany. The bass are they spawning by freds or wat when tge water isnt muddy hows the bass slow and small or a few big ones every once in a while???i did alot of catfishing of the bank when i was a kid a freds but i tried awhile back when i didnt feel like takin the boat out didnt caught a dame thing except westnile:)
