man, im glad someone else finally acknowledges these bugs! ive seen so many posts between here and on craigslist, of either boats or trailers, with papers that these terrible bugs have eaten, but still asking top dollar. the people at the dmv and at ldwf arent sympathetic by any means, they wont tell you who the previous owner was and how they keeps these evil little bugs from eating the paperwork.

my best advice is, if the paperwork is missing because these demon bugs ate it, its a boat anchor or a yard decoration, dunt buy it, because most likely the fiberglass worms or the aluminum mites have probably wore the boat out, or the galvanized beetles have eaten all the galvanize off the boat trailer. and if those bugs havent gotten to it yet, by the time you get the legal paperwork straight on what you bought, those bugs will have gotten to your stuff, its a vicious cycle.

It reminds me of that carfax commercial... 'This car comes with a note from the previous owner - this car runs great I PROMISE'

But instead it's 'This boat is not stolen I PROMISE'

What is funny to me is that it has become the norm for these people. They act like it is 'no big deal' that they do not have papers. What really gets me is how stupid some people are to buy a motor vehicle without a title and registration.
