Waterfowl Hunting in Southeast Louisiana

NORCO SWAMP HUNTER CITED

http://www.louisianasportsman.com/details.php?id=3443

Once again!! Someone hunting in the Norco swamp is cited for breaking game laws. This type of hunter needs to lose all his hunting rights for the rest of his life. This brings nothing but trouble and headache to all the hunters that cherish and appreciate going out and having a enjoyable hunt.

i hope the owners of this land (where people have trespassed for years) will step forward and stop people from hunting on their property. year after year this type of activity goes on and its time for someone to put a stop to it!

this is bull

this story is all twisted and turned. ik the man that this happened and this isnt the true story. him and all his buddies had taken a picture and not all the hunters were in that one photo he uploaded to facebook. they also had taken birds shot from a past hunt out of the fridge. the only reason he confessed is because of constant harrasment from wildlife agents, take what you want from it, but they harrased each and every one of us. they said they would hem me up for not having a life jacket next time? really i was in my piroque in hot water, saying that youd hem me up is unneccesary

Bayou Trapagnier is a scenic river.

Here is the research I found. St Charles Syndicate, I emailed you and you did not respond. That gives me the impresseion that your story is bogus.

Just read this link. Everything you need to know is on page 3.

Elephants ears , perch lips = fits this bill ...... every hear that saying ' it can't get no worst than this ' , it always can ........... come on , man ...............if he never did it he should have never pleaded guilty to it , a case like this in the media spot light , I'd bet he makes ' Bad Boys ' on WWL this weekend , with the fire started and the witch hunters rattled out their layers , when he does court they will nail him to the cross , upside down in an ant pile .........and there are a couple of other unoccupied ant piles close by .......... I have heard that misery needs company

I thought I was reading Admiral RAbbit wisdom until I saw the post by you...LOL.

Trout tracker. If your buddy didn't do it and was harassed that is called defamation of character and one could throw a law suit against the accusing party.

If I didn't do it and was being harassed I would record all harassment, take a lie detector test and do everything under the sun to free me of the accusations. Definitely wouldn't confess!

Article says nothing about hunting illegally in Norco Swamp

Why are you skewing a story? I get that you have a lease or lease land along the marsh, but the Labranche Wetlands is open for public use assuming your within the reaches that are defined by the document that was posted. So anything west of Bayou Labranche is open for public use. (Lebranche to Spillway Levee/Engineering Canal) That document clearly states it? Where is the confusion? I'm not condoning this kid because he clearly broke the law by harvesting over the limit, but he didn't not trespess to do it. I'm assuming you are North and farther east towards the marsh that can be seen from I-10 over the spillway? Please verify?

Reply for Yakn4fish

Yakn4fish,

The publication you have posted is for the Bayou Trepanier waterway only. That as well as Destrehan Canal are natural water ways so this makes the a navigable water way.

The land bordering these water way is owned and leased by someone. Thats the problem people have they think since the water is public that the land that borders it is also public. nothing can be further from the truth.

And as for why i didnt reply to your email. Because it looked like you were trying to find out where this land was located so you can come and hunt there. And the last thing i want to do is give information to another yahoo that can come and make things worst than they even are already.

your bogus dude

all your are is another hunter who hunts this land or wants something with it. i think your tired of all the other hunters out their having a good time on PUBLIC land, you know this and i know this. you want more land to yourself, their is no other logical reasoning as to why you are trying to stop people from hunting their. if its not your and not mine, then who cares if i hunt their, as long as wardens say im not breaking any laws then i will continue to hunt their. end of story

There is no confusion

If you would read the document correctly it states that the bayou is approximately 15,500 feet in length. It is a senic bayou being that it is a natural water way.

The bayou is broken down into 'reaches'
The first reache is 5,500 feet
The next is 5,500 feet
And the third is 4,500 feet

Add this up and what do you get? 15,500 feet. So this document is talking about the bayou ONLY.

Still sounds bogus? Sounds like i have all my ducks in a row. NO PUN INTENDED.

If you want to find the 'FACTS' go to the parish court house and get a landowner map and you will see that none of the land in this area is public.
THE ONLY PUBLIC HUNTING LAND IN LOUISIANA IS MANAGMENT AREAS &FEDERAL/STATE GAME RESERVES. All of these areas are posted with signs stating it is a managment area or game reserve. There are also maps online that show you public land in louisiana. NONE OF THIS LAND IS LISTED ANYWHERE. What more proof is needed?

law enforement

I dont know anybody involved here so Im not takin sides.I dont like people who knowingly break the laws out there but I also know someone who was accused of the same thing(b/c of pics) and know for a fact the birds were from a few hunts! I also know that if you have never been harrassed by law enforement then you just need to keep your mouth shut on this issue! You have no idea how they can make someone feel. The real issue here is to much law enforement,to much government! Law enforcement officials these days are not repectful and are not doing the job they were hired to do!The majority run around with the attitude if you dont do what they say your in the wrong and thats not the law! They get offended when you try and argue your rights or what you did or didnt do wrong! I fully believe this guy didnt shoot to many ducks but they insisted on charging someone b/c they made an attempt on a case and failed!

Not Public?

Ride to down to the foot of the spillway on opening morning around 4 am and let me know how many trucks you see putting in. There will literally be 40. That is the reason i don't fool with that place. When you come back at 8 am you'll also see 2 game wardens checking license, harvest, etc. I personally have been checked there. I have also been told that it is open for public and that I was not violating any trespassing laws. I'm not going to be out there at all this season, but I will take a game wardens word over some tough guy on the internet. Not trying to throw mud, but if it was private and people where trespassing, I can assure you, you'd see a lot less trucks as in zero and you wouldn't have game wardens giving the thumbs up. Good luck to your conquest, but your not going to keep people out of there. Good news is the swamp is probably bone dry right now so you'll be 'trespasser' free until we get about 20 inches of rain. Just food for thought.

I have to agree

I am a memeber of one of the hunting clubs in this area. What Stcharleslandsynd is saying is true. None of this land is public. There is a area in the swamp that is called the highland industrial subdivision. If i can remember correctly there are about 100+ lots in this subdivison each have a different owner. People have been hunting it for years and no one has said anything thats why people think it is public. Please keep in mind though that the majority of this swamp area (other than the subdivision) is owned by three different individuals and is leased to clubs in the area.

So if you hunt the subdivision area no one will have any issues. But keep in mind if you are on someones leased property in the area you have a good chance of being cited for tresspassing.

I have seen the map this fellow is talking about and it does give a better outline of who owns what. it clearly shows the area that is the industrial subdivision. So if you to were to get a copy and hunt the subdivision area you should have no problems.

Excuses

This is just another excuse for you to get people off private land. Yeah its private land and everybody knows that but whos gonna stop us from hunting on it. We understand that you are mad becuase you spend thousands of dollars a year on the land just for us to come in this little piece of swamp and kill our limit. And i know the cited hunter from Norco personally and i KNOW he is a better hunter than youll ever be so dont accuse people you dont know of stuff they didnt do

Wah Wah Wah Wah Wah

This place will soon be called the; 'stick your nose in other peoples business' site. It's getting pretty bad when a lease holder gets on a Sportsman's site and whines and whines because others get to hunt for free and no one is even on his lease. Anything to discourage others from enjoying a free hunt. I still don't see what this man with the birds has to do with the St Charles guy other than jealously! I'm sure if the guy is guilty he will pay. Can't you guys live and let live? And I know I'm going to hear the boo hoo's so come on down with your bad self. Ha Ha Ray
