Well to answer your question I am new to bowhunting. I have killed deer but never with a bow or crossbow. I have bowhunted for the past 4 years with a compund bow and crossbow. I have stands that I can hunt with a compund and some that I can only hunt with a crossbow (box stands). Now that is out of the way I have used Muzzy broadheads in the past but never let an arrow fly. I changed to Rage last year because I fell in to all the hype about Rage from friends. I have already switched back to the Muzzy fixed broadheads because of this experience. I was just wondering if anyone has used the Rage and was actually able to penetrate bone.
i had rage shot 2 animals and found nothing had good blood trail on the deer but the trail stopped and i never found it.looked for 4 hrs so it wasn't lack of trying.the hog he turned his head so the arrow hit straight in the fore head no blood no hog.this season i switched to swhacker shot pig got pig shot doe got doe shot hog lost that one shot another hog got that hog.the last one was a spine shot not planned he ducked and turned.but still got it.i have 6 or so rage and would love to trade them for swhackers.my thoughts on that question.hope that helps.oh and i shot 3 animals with the same tip
The 2 blade Rage warks just fine, take a look at the job the Rage 2-blade does on a deer quartering to you can do. When this deer came in he would not give me a broadside shot, i think he knew something was up and about to leave, so i took the shot with all the confidence in the world i would recover him quickly. I've been shooting expandables since 1993 and started shooting the Rage last year, and shot three does broadside and none of the went more than 40 yards. With this spike, the broadhead went through the shoulder bone, through the deers heart and out the chest on the other side, and stuck in the ground 4 inches. He ran about 50 yards before expiring with an easy blood trail to follow.
i go by what i use and see what the results are then decide what best. say what u want about rage they put them down. i shoot rage and g5.,t3, as long as u put the arrow where it goes and not try to out range ur bow they will do what they are suppose too. been bowhunting 6 years and have put them down consitaly ever season and get pass threws with bone. my buddy just started using rage and he shoots a drw lock and a croosbow due to a shoulder injury. but in the end its all about the shooter they will use what uy feel and works best and trust most .good luck happy hunting
There is no doubt in my mind that the rage works. I have seen first hand what it can do on a good clean shot. My first experience with it was not good. I know I hit shoulder bone which is my fault no doubt but I would have bet money that it would have penetrated. I was shocked when I found the arrow and observed that the arrow only penetrated up to broadhead. I guess my question would be is this common or just one of the 1% of the times that this happens. I have the deer on camera since the shot and but you cant tell here she was hit from the picture. I know where I hit her and it as about 2 inches forward of a perfect shot.

There are no miracles attached to the end of an arrow shaft. It is all about SHOT PLACEMENT . Shoot them in the vitals and you will recover them every time.Pick a broadhead that shoots well out of your set up, learn to put it where it counts and you will lay them down.
My only question is why the rage? Sooooo many great heads out there! Use a steel broadhead and lessen your chance of this.
