I wondered for a long time if bucks blew or not.
Yes. I climbed into my treestand around 1:00 one day. I pulled my muzzleloader up. As soon as I got comfortable, I heard a noise and looked to my right and there walked a buck right along the edge of a ditch about 150 yds. I knew his trail turned and went right in front of my about 50 yds.
I just watched through my scope as the big 8pt. made a scrape. To my left about 70 yds, 2 hunters came walking by.Sure enough, I watched the buck let out a good blow and run out of sight where he blew twice more.
the deer that blew at me did the same exact thing, blew once ran a little further and then blew two more times back to back and that was it. i've had a doe a couple years ago, sit there and blow once every three seconds for ten min. and then run off deep in the woods and blew for like five more min.,but im gonna leave that spot alone for like two weeks and hunt somewhere else till he calms down, thanks for the info
Deer blow for any number of reasons and it may not have been the buck that you spooked. It could have been yet another deer that also saw you walking in, climbing into your stand or simply just heard the click. You shouldn't assume that the buck won't come back. He was there in that area for a reason, more likely feeding as the rut is still some time off.
I wouldn't rule out going back to that stand. Just be more aware of noise and scent management and good luck.
