Strange person tresspassing on my land in Tensas
I have the same issue as you do....I also have a pic of a stranger walkin through my camp yard in Tensas last January.However I posted the pic on the Highlifter forum a while back and had several ppl contact me with the guy's name !
Hey I don't pay much attention to feed laws, but I thought baiting deer with rice bran was illegal? If y'all know the specifics on this, you don't have to reply on here, but if someone can, shoot me an email and let me know. I think I heard something like rice bran is not approved as a source of feed or something like that. Like I said, I don't really know, but would like to know the facts for my own knowledge.
bbdbuck, my family actually used to lease most of that land. I hunted that for years and years until my dad gave the lease up back in the early '90s.
Used to be owned by Mary Olive Pierce and some other guy I can't remember. I'll ask my dad.
Never killed a deer off of it, but I was just starting off.
I think these types of photos should be sent to the news so that they can be blasted all across the TV. What is the difference between posting a picture of a criminal that got caught on a surveillance camera in a C store stealing cigarettes and this criminal caught on camera trespassing. Not only trespassing he is trespassing with a gun which is more than likely loaded.
I have seen a purple Toyoyta FJ Cruiser parked off Burbank between Ben Hur and Lakeside Daquiri a couple times on the way to LSU. This may be your vehicle, but if not, and this is the area you are talking about then I could get the License plate number off the vehicle for you if I see it out there again.
what disgusts me most about this thread, is everyone that called this man a poacher, simply jumped to that conclusion. did anyone take into consideration that perhaps this man got lost, or turned around and accidentally walked through? its happened to all of us whether we want to admit it or not. we have all gotten turned around, or been confused about exactly where we were, whether it be hunting or fishing. perhaps this person was hunting the adjacent property and got lost and was trying to find his way out. what is this person was diabetic or hypoglycemic, got down sick and was desperately trying to find their vehicle and their medication?
if you have not seen any physical proof of poaching that would stand up in a court of law, such as deer blood on the ground from a deer you know you didnt kill, or had the person been dragging a deer behind him, then he isnt a poacher, the worst crime he commited would be accidental trespassing.
very rarely do poachers walk in broad daylight with a climbing stand on their back. poachers know what they are doing is illegal so they prefer spot lights to blind deer and the cover of darkness to escape. poachers are lazy and wouldnt be trying to still hunt as this person was clearly doing with the climbing stand on their back.
im not saying he wasnt trespassing, but perhaps it was an accident. i think some of you were too quick to jump to conclusions and accuse this man of something he might or might not have done.
ask yourself this, if you got lost, or disoriented in the woods and were desperately trying to find your way out of the woods, and you accidently walked across someones bran pile, what would be on your mind? poaching a deer or trying to find the path the hunter that put the bran down used to find your way out and get some help?
its clear whats on some peoples minds, but when we actually stop to consider all the variables, which makes more sense?
Gonefishin,
He may be a lost poacher that is looking for his glucagon. With all of the modern technologies that is hard to believe though. If he has an illness that requires medication, then he should be resposible enough to have know when he needs it or bring it with him. If he is lost in this modern day of technology, then he is an idiot. There are GPS units that sell for under $100. Most modern cell phones have access to google earth or a GPS function.
I like to believe that he is is a poaching tresspasser as I have had several poachers/tresspassers visit my lease and also my grandmaw's land. Local that think the have the right to hunt the land even though they don't own it or lease it. They have torn down my feeders and it wasn't at night. It is too bad that there aren't more honest stand up citizens. There are always going to be locals that don't want outsiders hunting around there area that they have grown up hunting.
What bothers me about this thread is that the picture was taken back in January. Last I checked, it is now October. So now, 10 months later we can speculate that:
1. He's poaching;
2. He missed his meds;
3. He was using sweet potatoes;
4. The news should run a story on this ten months after it happened;
5. There should be a social media site set up explicitly for catching trespassers.
My god, the ADHD on this board is amazing. Way to strike while the iron is hot, OP!
Motorboat,
Thats funny stuff. I didn't even look at the date. I just don't care for tresspassers or poachers. I have had them walk up the trail only to find me sitting in the stand that they were probably looking to hunt. Whatever he is I am sure he is gone by now. If not he really was just lost I guess.
Gone fishing here are the facts. We know all adjacent clubs and have shared this picture with everyone that borders our property and clubs that border other clubs property and nobody can identify him. He was also less than ¼ mile from a major highway that you can hear and walk to. He is walking the opposite direction of the highway and going deeper into our woods so I suppose I could give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he was blind because he cannot read posted signs and deaf because he cannot hear. He is also a thief because he has one of our stands on his back!!!!!!!!!!!! I posted it again now because when I posted it last year at the end of the season I did not get any response. Getting plenty now, in fact may have a lead for the law!
If that is indeed one of your stands then chances are good that he is knowingly trespassing. You never mentioned that fact or that it was posted here once before so the guys comments about 'jumping to conclusions' are what i was thinking too. With that being said your best bet might be to make a flier with this picture asking for info on the guy and your number. Then take that and ask to post it in convenient stores close to the location. Chances are good that he lives nearby and somebody will recognize him. Either way good luck on finding the guy and hopefully it never happens again.
Man i wish i could!
