i camp in the field at big lake camp ground, good flat land , only cost $5.00 a night per person. if you look on the map you'll see a check station symbol with the name crystal next to it that is where the camp ground is located, all you do is set up in the center field and the grounds keeper will meet you to collect, several occasions i've camped for days and didn't pay a thing, good luck. i'll probably see you there,i have a blue ford f-150 with silver bottom. my name is chris
I know this is not as close as some of the above mentioned camp grounds, but Lake Bruin State Park is really nice and pretty reasonable on pricing! They also have very clean heated bathrooms, showers, and a lundry room as well! The only downfall is that you can not clean a deer inside of the park! We made friends with others in the area that allow us to clean deer! We stay there every year and do a little fishing after our morning kills. Just an idea!

check on the Tensas map. there are two campgrounds near big lake where it says 'crystal' on the map. There is a third campground near where it says 'sharkey' . all three have water and electricity, but no shower or bathroom. we camped at the one near big lake and payed around $10 a night for our tent. hope this helps
