Host of La Sportsman

Does anyone else watch la sportsman the TV show? Does anyone wonder the same as me? Why does a big fishing show like this have a host who gets out fished every episode? Is it just me or do one of the guides who appears on the show need to become the host? let me know what yall think.

Seems natural to me that the professional guides would outfish the host. The host (Kevin Ford) is not a professional fisherman to my knowledge.

yep

Sorry, but Kevin is kind of goobery. Bothers me sometimes when I watch the show, but he is the producer. If I remember correctly.

I watch it all the time, Kevin is fun to watch. In a way he draws out the guides and you get to see what they are doing when they're catching all those fish.

I think he does a good job. I think he makes the show. Yes he is on the goofy side but I think he spins it well on the show. Just my 2 cents.

Kevin is intentionally a little goofy. He does do a good job of explaining thing. I like the show (and Kevin) and look forward to watching it each week.

C'mon now, don't be hatin' on Kevin! He's at least showing you that it doesn't take a guide to catch fish in the places he goes. He seems to catch a few even while fishing in Lake P. and fishing next to someone like Eric Dumas and Dudley Vandeborre which can humble a guy real quick. He may be playing up the goofball act a bit also, then again maybe not!

Enjoy it

Kevin always seems to have a good time out there. He's goofy for sure, but I think we could all (myself included) stand to remember that it's supposed to be fun. Don't make it work by trying to be perfect like I am sometimes guilty of or getting down on yourself during a bad trip . . . Go, give it your best shot, be safe and have a good time with your family and friends.

Great shows Kevin, loved the topwater bite from this past episode.

Host

My wife and I enjoy watching Kevin Ford as the host, even though he is not really a fisherman, but more of a sports host. I don't believe she would watch it if there was another host. However, we would like to see newer episodes instead of repeats, but nonetheless, we enjoy it together. This goes to show that anybody can go out and charter a boat/guide and have a great time, whether you are a novice or a seasoned angler. In my opinion, I would much rather watch the guide/host catch a few large specs than watch them catch a lot of schoolies. I think the most beneficial parts are the tips that the guide offers, and then translated into lamen terms by Kevin Ford. You have to realize that people who watch fishing are obviously not fishing often. LA Sportsman TV is also filmed all over south LA from Cameron Parish to Plaquemines Parish, which encourages viewers to get off the beaten path and explore new fishing grounds. The show could venture into other areas of LA to include freshwater fishing as well. The most important reason I enjoy the show is due to the fact that it is all about fishing; no hunting. I have nothing against hunting, in fact I sit on a stand every now and again, but watching a hunting show can put me to sleep faster than Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you LA Sportsman TV and Host Kevin Ford, and keep filming new episodes. We enjoy watching every weekend.

They are guides for a reason..

(they help others not so fortunate catch fish)

not many people around will outfish the guides..

I have Fished with Kevin in both ways with the Camera and without and the Camera does bring out a differant Kevin, I dont know why but one day he catches them good and the next not so good.. Just not so good when camera is aboard, I will admit this, if you ever fish with him and John Jackson (PRODUCER) you will not stop laughing.. All in All Ford is Great guy and if there is anything you need and Kevin can help ,he will do what he can..

I want whatever drugs Admiral Rabbit gets. Kevin is a total goober and he makes me cringe to watch the show. If you're from Baton rouge and listen to a guy on the radio in the morning named Kevin Meeks, you'd know a similar feeling. Maybe it's the name 'Kevin'...

I know Kevin personally and he is a great sportsman. He puts a lot of time and effort into his show and the magazine. I enjoy watching the show when I can, because I can learn new techniques for different areas on the coast. Keep up the good work Kevin.

    Louisiana Sportsman tv on satelite

I am not going to join the debate on how much I suck!! But the show is now available on The Sportsman Channel which is carried by both Direct tv and Dish. Airtimes are Sunday at 7:30am, Tuesday at 11:30am, and Saturday at 5:00am. We also have a new website which has more info at www.louisianasportsmantv.com. Some of the shows on The Sportsman Channel will be different than the regional shows but all will be available to view on both websites. We will be shooting shows in all ten coastal parishes as soon as the wind dies down so there will be some new faces and new places. If you have any questions, comments, or criticisms, email me at lasporttv@yahoo.com. I am also going to add a trip log to the new website soon which will detail where we are, date we fished, how many fish were actually caught, baits, rods, reels, line etc.

    good show

I like the show cause I think it reminds us to have fun. If fishing becomes something that isn't fun I might as well stay home and cut grass. Also my 6 year old daughter loves the show and its one of the only shows she will sit down and watch the entire show because she says they're catching the fish that I take her to catch. Its nice to see a show based in our backyards and not from Florida!

    Don't Sweat it

Kevin i think u are a great host, u let the guides give all their info and u have fun and thats what makes it entertaining... I don't need to see someone prove how awesome of a fisherman they are, and thats what shows u are just there to pass along the info!

As everyone is aware there are plenty babies on this site that will complain about whatever there is to complain about, and this falls into that category

    Thanks Again

Say what you want to say about the man and his show. I think the show is great and I have had the pleasure of watching it from in front of the TV and in front my face while being filmed. Kevin is a fun guy to have on the boat and it is amazing to watch him go from goofing around to a complete professional in the blink of an eye.

By the way those that say he sucks as a fisherman are nothing but jealous. I bet he could out fish you any day.

Would yall really rather watch someone that is dead serious all of the time? No emotion, no expressions, just cast and reel? TV shows are for entertainment and what Kevin does on his show is geared to entertain while teaching and showing everyone that if this 'goofy' guy can catch fish you can too if you get up and go.

Kevin you are doing a great job and I watch the show everytime I see it on. Haters will hate because thats what they do.

Guys, Thanks for the kind words about the show. We try to make it fun and the real star of the show should be the fish and the guides. If you get a laugh, learn something from the guides, and enjoy John Jackson's videograghy of the the show then we have done our job! Thanks again for watching and its getting warm so I should be landing some beautiful hardheads and gaftops soon!!

I also enjoy the program; it is my favorite outdoors show, mainly because I can relate to most of the fishing locations. The rapport between Kevin and the guides as well as Kevin's self-deprecating humor add to the entertainment value as well. I'm looking forward to the new episodes. Keep up the good work Kevin and John.

You do make the show fun to watch. You also make a basketball game easier to endure on the radio. I only have one request though...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE either take Jim Hawthorne's place on the air or ask him to actually WATCH the freaking game he is calling! I'm waiting for Brad Creese to hit a 3 point touchdown pass from Shaquille O'Neal while Seimone Augustus throws out Billy Cannon trying to steal second....

    Throwdown

    Kevin,
I think we need to go down to sand dollar and 5 -10 of us have a hard head rodeo from the dock . No boats, Biggest fish and most caught in one hour. Should make a good show when nothing else is happening.
Will be a good time if nothing else.
