VooDoo Fishing Charters

Offshore fishing in Venice, LA. A couple of buddys I work with and I went down to Venice to stock up the freezer, and boy, mission accomplished. First thing I did was call Capt. Trey Pique with VooDoo Fishing Charters, so he could find us a house boat for the night before. He hooked it up too, the place was nice. He asked us in the morning what we wanted to do, wahoo? tuna? amberjacks?....... I told him we wanted to make a serious meat haul, tuna meat haul to be exact. He said he had a few spots to try. But if we were willing, he knew a spot a little further out, it wasn't a question of if we limit out, but WHEN we limit out. And boy he was right!

His Deck Hand Josh (who is also a Capitan on another boat) was a big help, and made everything real easy for us. One of the guys with us never fished offshore before, but they made him look like a pro. We were able to make bait really fast, and started fishing in no time. The baits weren't in the water 5 minutes before we started to get slammed by tuna. From then it was all downhill, double and triple hook-ups all day. It was crazy, he put us right in the middle of a feeding frenzy.

We finished up the day by stopping by a rig on the way in and snagged a wahoo. The wahoo was pretty big too, about 65lbs. Now there’s a problem……..IT WON’T FIT IN THE FISH BOX!!!! This was a good problem to have, but we ended up cutting 2 of the tuna’s heads off to fit the wahoo. Didn’t have much of a choice, but to head in. We ended up with a total of 16 Yellow fin Tuna and 1 BIG Wahoo. Needless to say, we had a blast. We were fishing in style too, Capt. Trey has a 36ft. Yellow fin with Twin Yamaha 350’s. This boat is a beast. He uses the best and newest Shimano gear, nothing is half-ass when it comes to his set up. If you are ever thinking about making a trip to Venice for some offshore action, do yourself a favor and call Capitan Trey with VooDoo Fishing Charters. He will put you on the fish.

p.s. You might want to do a few push-ups and stretches before you go. You’re gunna need to be in shape to fish with these guys!!

no more room

I have run into the problem of not having anymore room before. Try buying a large fish bag. Just one will almost double the number of fish the boat can hold.
