Launched at Bait INC. at around 06:00 a.m. and had high hopes! Got to the hot water canal and everything seemed perfect! Steam coming off the water, nice and cold weather, but no fish! We worked hard at em for 3 hours and only had 9 trout! Being the die-hard fishermen we are, we decided to pack the boat up and head to myrtle grove. This ios the first time I had fished there and was shocked at the number of boats. We stated casting double rigged sparkle beetles and only managed 6 trout. Plenty of redfish but NOT ONE over 16 inches. We met John Gremillion there and he is a great guy! He had 17 trout but said it was an early bite. Saw very few trout slung aboard the boats there. Could be because of the strong winds, approaching front, and horrible weather.

Wasn't planning on going due to the weather forecast being horrible. I woke up at 11:00 am and to my surprise the rain had passed. I called Jason and we decided to go to the hot water canal. When we arrived to our hole, the temperature was in the low 60's with fog, 20-25mph winds from the NNW and PLENTY of hungry trout. We easily caught our limit using tko shrimp carolina rigged with a 1 ounce bank sinker. While we were there we could feel the temperature dropping the whole time.

Arrived at Bait INC. around 06:00 a.m. with high hopes due to the day before. We arrived at the hole by 07:00 a.m. and had to work hard for 17 trout! Dumas met up with us around 11:00a.m. and go figure, the trout bite stopped completly. He is a hell of a guy, great great person. We all fished hard till 02:00 p.m. and added maybe 4-5 trout total from 11:00 a.m. till 02:00 p.m. Although the trout bite was almost non-existant, the company was great! At 02:00 p.m. dumas decided to call it a day and head back to slidell, while we decided to explore! We stopped at the shell pile and made a drift only picking up 1 lonely trout. We then headed to the marsh across the canal from the shell pile to search for redfish...NOTHING! Before heading home we decided to give the hot water canal one more try and pulled up at around 04:00 p.m. and oh boy was it a great idea! It was almost everycast with the trout being nice sized! We headed in with 59 trout!

Was not planning on going but woke up at 10:00 a.m. and was bored. Mike and I launched at around 11:30ish and got to the hole by 12:00 a.m. First 6 casts produced 6 footballs(good sized hybrid bass) One was actually really really nice! Then the trout came on and we caught our limit by 04:00 p.m. along with a few more hybrids!
We are truly blessed to be able to catch fish like this in the wintertime!
Going wade fishing with dumas next weekend and plan on catching a couple fish to go on my stringer with the 7.4 and 8.6 trout caught last summer!

I have heard of the hot water canal, but don't know where it is located. Can someone tell me where it is?
