If hunting small pot holes, use less than 2 dozen, preferably no more than 1.5 dozen and if it is really a small pot hole say 75 yards wide, use a dozen. I would and do not use a robo either in small pot holes at all. Only in big water. Also, late in the season starting in a week or so try spreading a dozen dekes out in PAIRS and put a good distance between them. Ducks will start pairing up soon for the breeding season.
If you are hunting timber or marsh. If marsh, I still use a large spread 45-50 dekes if huting big open water, but spread out really well, but late in the 2nd split I will start hunting smaller water and pot holes and hunt less than a dozen dekes leaving the robo at home.
