OK, It's no secret I'm agaist feeding or baiting deer, yes it makes them nocturnal. The people that will disagree, feed deer. I first started looking into this about six years ago, due to decreasing daylight sightings. After doing some research, I came across Charles Ruth, a biologist from the Carolina's, who did a study on the subject. His results were interesting, and showed it does make them nocturnal and that the hunters who didn't, killed more deer than those who did. This is the same thing our club's records for the last 10 years has showed. If you whould like to see it you can contact him and he will email it to you. yes pressure has an effect, but even look at summertime picture's on trail cameras and with no pressure they are mostly all at night.
The state is not going to do away with feeding because there's too much money and opposition hanging in the balance.
Now with regards to dog hunting, that will never make a come back, because in infringes on too many other land owners. Keeping dogs from crossing property lines is next to impossible. I'm not totally agaist it, I killed my first deer on a dog hunt many years ago, plus it's real hard to make a selective harvest when your shooting at running deer. Good luck to all and be carefull.
