Alligators and Kids
It all started 5 weeks ago when my 5 year old called my dad and said pawpaw we won the Lottery! The kids were so excited you would have thought we won a million dollars. After several scouting trips we finally got to go this weekend on Pearl River WMA with our 3 lottery tags. Saw several real nice gators scouting but set my bait to low, I didn't think 6 foot alligators would reach bait 2 feet out the water but they can. We caught two on saturday that were 9'0' and 7'3' and one on monday that was 6'3'. Kids had a blast, they took pictures to school today to show everybody including friends, teachers, and even the lunchroom ladies who knew all about our trip. Was one of the best weekends of my life, if you get the opportunity to take your kids to do this they will love it. We've been watching Swamp People so everytime we checked a line my little boy would holler 'We got a TreeShaker'. We had 4 dads, 8 kids and 2 grandpa's who had a great time this weekend. The 9 footer was missing his front left leg, was an old injury and healed completely over. The 7 footer had six inches of carbon arrow shaft with a rocket expandable broadhead healed over in his neck. The six footer had a 4 inch gash on belly and large cuts on tail. Apparently we had a knack for catching handi-capped gators.
