The last couple of years the numbers in the Pearl have been very low. It seemed that area and other areas around the lake did well in the years imediately following katrina. Maybe due to the destruction of habitat down south. The habitat around the Venice area is back and the birds don't stay in th Pearl. Good habitat down south and tons of pressure in the pearl move the birds. You must also do your scouting during high an low tide. If the wind is a blowin and the tides a fallin, the ponds empty out quick. Nothin but mud.

Don't waste your time man. It's a long ride to the southern end from 90. Last year i hunted we heard plenty of shots but later found out from the wardens that most of the yahoo's down there were shooting poldeau's. Your chances are much better hunting Biloxi WMA in Hopedale. Good Luck
