Tuna fishing and bottom fishing has been great! The summer time offshore fishing style doesn't end for more than a month! And than October hits and you all know what that means! Hand feeding giant tunas right next to the boat! I have plenty of days open to do charters or guide private boats! I took these photos of a fish kill in pond off Harrison Avenue. I'm not sure what caused it other than the heat and amount of weeds/algae in the ponds this year. It seems like there is lot more of that junk floating in the ponds this year. It's a shame there were some really nice sized bass, catfish, and bream floating along the shore.
is the gulp shrimp really worth the money? I know a lot of captains and weekend warriors both are switching to it for specks and reds because live bait is 'to expensive' but 10 gulp shrimp is 20$. and are they better then the vudu shrimp. last year I had the best trip ive ever had thanks to the vudu shrimp but again their on average 7$ for 2....
Late summer is the time to look for flounder as they begin to make their move from offshore to inshore. Smaller fish are the first to show, and they can be caught well using jigs around rocks, rubble, jetties, docks and pilings.
Windy and muddy water on Sunday. Saturday was a wash for us, no one wanted to get up in the rain to fish including me. Had a great time with the family and friends for Labor Day weekend.
Sunday yeilded better weather and all around conditions. Fished in the marshes north of Grand Isle and found trout in Rambo and Palmeadow. Worked several of my regular ponds for reds and found a....
I see pics of people fishing the ICWW near Michoud Sub-station all the time.... I have tried many times to try that area myself but can never get to the dang canal... If theres anyone that has fished that area before, could you please let me know how i can get to the ICWW fishing area from Chef Hwy. I get as far as Old Gentilly Rd. past NASA and Folgers but don't know which road to turn down to....
