Hunting in Louisiana
We are spending a lot of money on the bear population when they are populating to casual sightings but yet, we have a seriouse problem with the hogs . They are getting way out of hand.. Why don't we put a bounty on the hogs like they did with the nutria. The hogs are pushing a lot of deer out and are multiplying faster than we are killing them !! At this rate, lousiana will be the hogs paridise!

Inshore Fishing in Bayou Bienvenue in Southeast Louisiana

  • Manatee
Bayou Bienvenue suprise today. Fishing the Great Wall area and heard a noise that sounded like a porpoise behind me. Turned but didn't see one. Thought it must have been a bird or something else. Continued casting and forgot about it. Then I saw something that looked like a big gar rolling on the surface but it was too far away to tell for sure. I watched it for a bit and realized it was....  Read More

25 TROUT, 2 DRUM,10-31-14

I cancelled my trip today with the forecast of high winds as they were coming from Baton Rouge.I should have known better to actually believe their forecast.

I left at 7am and had my 25trout limit by 9am.First stop put 18 in the box and the bite stopped with the incoming tide.Made a short move and the tide was....  Read More

Hunting in Louisiana
Take this advice from a father of 2 hunters. Don't let those pumpkins go to waste. They make great targets. My kids love shooting pumpkins after halloween. Young kids especially need that added fun factor to make learning shooting skills more interesting. The older kids (like me) love to watch them exploded.

  • Nice new pirogue.
Just got my new pirogue this week. It's a Ron Chapman King with 2 spud holes just behind the seat. Got 2 cypress pirogue paddles from the factory too. This boat has 600lb capacity and only weighs 70 lbs. My daughter and I paddled it yesterday in an event called 'Paddle Bayou Lafourche'. We paddled 15 miles. Great boat. We could stand and paddle this boat it's so stable. Nice people at the....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Louisiana
Redfish action is going great down in Pointe Aux Chenes and the Trout action is heating up as well. On my 4th trip in my Pro Angler 14 I headed out early to get on some Trout and managed to find some quality keepers using a couple of my favorite Tsunami Swimbaits. The action didn't stop there. After catching some nice ones for the box during the falling tide, I decided to go do some sight....  Read More

Where is Oak Island and/or Big Chenier located south of Houma? I watched Sportsman TV video (Tony Taylor's Chenier episode) and wondered where it's located.

  • The trout aren't really big yet out at the Point, but the action is pretty steady.
Speckled trout have been pretty consistent out at Cypremort Point. In the Cove, I caught eight one afternoon last week fishing the back side of the jetties in my kayak using a 3-inch Tsunami swim shad. Also on Vortex Shad shrimp cocktail with a ¼-ounce jighead. Elvis Jeanminette told me The Cove, Mud Point, the mouth of the Avery Canal and the rock pile by Gas Line Cove are all hot right now....  Read More

Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Holly Beach in Southwest Louisiana
I want to give some praise to Mr. Larry Reynolds and others who through feedback from hunters pushed back the coastal zone big duck opener to 11/15/14. I have read recent DU reports from Minnesota in particular that seem to now justify this move to push back our opener a week. The northern tier states indicate a noticeable delayed migration so far in their hunting seasons. Everything seems a....  Read More

Nightmares After checking the game cameras this weekend, I have a new respect when walking to my stands in the dark. Last week was my first encounter with a black bear in the wild and this week it’s a huge alligator and adult male bear that are visiting my stand frequently. It was amazing to see an alligator in the middle of the woods with water a ¼ of a mile away from my stand location. My son....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Lake Borgne / Chef Menteur
Photo Album
  • Two day total from Lake Borgne
  • Lake Borgne has some doormats right now
Did a two-fer at Chef Pass. Fished the afternoon incoming tide Friday, and Saturday morning falling tide. My Father-In-Law Jerry joined me Friday. We had to stick-and-move and stay out of the north wind, but steadily put trout, reds, doormat flounder, and sheephead in the boat. We fished the Lake Borgne shoreline, cuts, and inside marsh. Live shrimp deep under a cork worked best, but also used a....  Read More

Fished this past Friday out of Leeville. Weather was perfect and had a falling tide most the morning. Fished my usual spots along the power lines on East side where I found the water looking allot better than on the West. The catfish seemed to be stacked up in there more than normal and feasted pretty well on live minnows. We switched over to soft plastics using Lemon head Matrix Shads, H&H....  Read More
