Fishing in Louisiana
I finalized the Chalmette Refining Petition last week with 1,060 signatures. I expected we'd see maybe 50 or so signatures who did NOT list their address. The actual number was 105!

I sent e-mails to all 105 readers who signed the Petition but FAILED TO LIST THEIR ADDRESS, essentially invalidating their petition. To date, I have received ONLY 22 replies. So, I still have 79....  Read More

Made another trip on Sunday staying close to the house. My son had a friend over on Saturday night and at 9:00 Sunday morning he wanted to go fishing, so we loaded up the boat and off we went. Him and his buddy had a blast, well and me too, caught white trout, croakers, reds, drum and one lonely speck. We made a nice meat haul.

Sight Life in Full effect this am. Ty Hibbs and I armed with Matrix Shad on way out and armed with a limit on way in. We even managed to Tag Louisiana a few and release for other anglers. 'Pink Champagne' and 'Blazin Hornet' Vortex Shad was the ticket. The Pearl River ponds was the place. High water so we snuck deep in the creeks and ponds and saw....  Read More

Captain Paul - GPS Info in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
Any feedback on how good or bad the detail is for our area on the new Garmin BlueChart g2 Vision Map?

Its a bit pricey and I don't want to commit another $300 on top of what I already spent for a new GPS. The current base maps just stink. For example, it doesn't even show the Spoil Canal next to the MRGO.

Is it any wonder, after reviewing the facts regarding the fees Louisiana charges compared to Mississippi, why Mississippi is the leader of the two states in so many Wildlife Management Areas?

From first hand experiences, Louisiana WMAís, like the PRWMA (Pearl River Wildlife Management Area), have always struggled through low budgets, and Rangers claim they canít afford to put rocks on....  Read More

It was a brisk departure this morning from the Reel Inn Dularge bringing Marvin and Phyllis Travasos to the honey hole. Fresh crab chilled in the cooler ready to be eaten by the reds we hoped to find. I got my hopes up high when the first red of the day doubled over Marvin's rod and sent the spool into a screaming tornado within seconds. This was Marvin's birthday present to Phyllis and he....  Read More

  • Delta hog

  • Fawn on full alert
I went on my 7th scouting trip down at the Delta this morning. This time it was on Big Island and for the very first time I saw a hog there. I have killed quite a few hogs the last several years at the Delta, but all of them have been on the peripheral islands. I have seen sign for the last few years on Big Island, but no sightings until this morning.

The area I was on, had over one....  Read More

Today 8 boats launched at Sweetwater they did really good on reds despite the wind from the cool front moving in. They caught a few trout also. Capt.Jack has a few charters available still this week. The trout he caught yesterday was unreal but they were only 11 inches so in the next few weeks they will be 12 inches so if your looking to book now is the time. We have lodging available also and a....  Read More

Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Southeast Louisiana

Just looking for some opinions, this spike came on camera right outside the area I hunt; was on a family members camera, not mine. My question is , is he a shooter or not? This is a small area that we hunt and is natural area so to speak; what I mean by that is it is not an area that is really food plotable and such, lots of hard woods etc. Just wondering if he were to walk in front of my stand....  Read More

  • Sail hook up with a storm coming.
  • Got him by the nose.
  • Quick shot before revival and release.
The surf on Friday near Pensacola went from bad to worse. When we got to the launch site the surf wasnít too bad, but the Gulf was covered with T-storms. We headed to Waffle House to wait a while and see what would happen. After about an hour we headed back. Still had some storms, but it looked like we could get out. We did.

Finding bait was a little slow, but we managed some small cigs....  Read More
