Sure Iím not the only one who has ever questioned the legal possession and regulations of blue fin tuna, I also know several educated captains that have been interrogated over this misinterpretation. The question I have is there a way to purchase a tuna tag or licenses to possess a blue fin during the closed Incidental Trophy Season? Also if you were to accidently catch a blue fin and the fish.... Read More
When using Insight Planner is there a way to enter a waypoint created using NAD 27 Datum and then convert it to WGS 84 Datum? I can't seem to figure out if there is an option to do that within the program. Will I just have to enter those coordinates in my HDS 7 unit in NAD 27 and then convert them to WGS 84? Thanks for your help.

Had pretty good morning fishing yesterday. Plenty of Reds and a few specks... But question is this... Being I am a sport fisher I am required to have all safety gear on board including running lights. Are commercial fishermen exempt from having required running lights??? I met up with an oyster boat yesterday morning which never slowed and was running in the dark without a light what so ever! .... Read More
I'm looking at purchasing a new aluminum bay boat in the 20 foot range. I know from past posts the the Xpress seems to be the consensus favorite, (keep in mind I'm excluding the premium aluminum models such as American Aluminum). I recently checked out the DLX 20 Bay by G3 with a 150, and really liked the looks and features. I know this is a new model for G3, but if anyone has any first.... Read More
Farewell to the fishing grounds that have produced so many fish for all that frequented this incredible area. I sure hope the artificial reefs that are being talked about, really happen. I will believe it when I see it.

While running a charter yesterday Matt hooked into a monster Bull Red. After 20 mins I tightened the drag a little bit. The fish ran under the boat then shot out yanking Matt right off the bow of the boat. Luckily he did not let go of rod. We got him back in, he immediately grabbed the rod and 15 mins later the monster was in the boat. This was his biggest fish ever!! Congrats Mathew on getting.... Read More
Hello, Anglers. So far we have had one of the mildest summers that I can remember in the past several years. Now that can change in short order but the trends for the next couple of weeks show temperatures headed lower rather than higher.
The long-term predictions for the next 6 to 10 days have my weather apps reading daytime highs in mid-to-upper 80s with night-time lows in the mid to.... Read More
Don't know how long it has been since the river gauge in NO has been below that magic number 5. Just checked and it will be this week. Time to think about fishing the river in Venice nothing like it. This is about as easy fishing as it is just fish in the river and passes. The way it is dropping saltwater should be coming in like tidal wave if we get some SE winds. Maybe a great fall if we....
