Snyper tell the wife that little fella is ready and he is comming with us on the next run.Man you wern't lying he is already as big as you.lol.I can get a extra car seat from my sister for the boat to strap him in.lol
Bigjim I agree with you 100% about the decoys but I was getting desperate I tried everything that I knew except shooting him off of the limb.I have killed 11 birds and this one was by far the hardest and smartest.
He would have never made it out in that boat. But that is just me.Please explain to the young man that no all HUNTERS are pieces of s@#% and not to quit the sport as he is the future.
Take a look a most target arrows and see if there is any helical on them. The answer is no!The 1in and 2in vanes are too small to put any helical or offset on them and they will fly truer than a hunting arrow with extreme helical. There must be some truth to it because darn near all target shotters shoot straight vanes and there arrows fly true enough to hit a nickle size dot at 40yds consistenly.I have built enough arrows and experimented with them while working at bowie outfitters to know that a arrow will only spin when the fletchings are offset or helical.Try putting three straight vanes on a arrow and line up the broadhead with the vanes and you will see what I am saying.
Not all arrows spin.I shoot lightspeed 400's with 4" straight duravanes and they don't spin. I personally don't like them to spin due to personal preferance. If anyone would like proof I will be glad to show them.I don't say much on here but I have noticed that someone is always trying to piss on someones parade it needs to stop!If you can't congraulate a fella on a nice kill then don't say anything.Any deer killed in the basin is a good deer congrats BASSINBUSSER.I will bust your chops on this though, the shot is a little off center.Mabye if your arrow was spinning it would have flown straight through the heart and not off center.
I just got back from scouting and I am not to far from you.I hunt in rougon and I have some mallets, greys and a lot of widgeon opening morning should be quick. My family has 100 acres just inside the potato levee on the way to old miss hunting club and I do pretty good later in the year there when the water is up.I don't hunt there very much due to the other property that we have as it holds more birds.E-mail me and I can give you some spots on the river. Are you the same duckaholic from the refuge forums?
I hunt in Rougon La. near New Roads and have a deacent amount of greys and a crap load of widgeon.Come on opening day I can't wait for the wackage to begin in the timber.
Man I don't know of a map but I will tell you be carefull. There are signs that say federal lands but the water was real low during teal season with alot of dry ground and I was running the ditches in my go devil with a blind attached. The only way for you to tell that you were on federal lands was to get out of the boat and walk 150yds on land and walk arround the sign to read it, hell I din't even know that the feds had land in there. The signs are not double sided they only face onto federal lands. With the water being high it might be covering the signs.I f you see a white post be sure you are on the right side of it.
Fellas watch for the boundries of the federal lands.I got turned arround there on opening morning of teal season and got a ticket for trespassing from the feds.It was a honest mistake but I was still wrong.I just don't it happening to anyone else.
I am not far from you.I am in Rougon La. and have about 20 acres of flooded timber that I own and I am already loaded with greys.mallets and a few widgeon.I can't wait until opening day.
