URGENT-Oil Rig Explosions by Government needs to be stopped!!!!!!
This just goes to show you how blind our public is, government blowing up rigs and not leaving them for artificial reefs! They kill thousands of red snapper and other reef fish and its o.k. to blast them? They won't repopulate because now their home is gone! You catch one over the limit, or undersized and the same government that I uphold wants to crucify the fisherman for something they are doing by doing this! I guess the government can do whatever it wants to do in regards to what they want and not all the American public wants! Someone needs to be held accountable for this gross mismanagement and atrocity!
National Marine Fisheries Service’s Roy Crabtree is the one, sorry....the other guy is just wishy washy due to the federal regulations. We should extend our state waters and be over our own fisheries, not someone in a suit from Washington telling us what we can and can't do bc it's obviously not working (Federal regulation). Can't we all just get along?
Mile Voisin, why would he be silent? We already have the data and information that says our red snapper fishery has rebounded to numbers never seen ever in history, now let people catch them for pete's sake, year round!
I use bream while catfishing all the time. It is NOT illegal as long as you caught them by rod and reel for bait. U can't cast net them and use them but if caught by rod and reel then yes, u can use them.
Wow! One word! So much for the endangered red snapper. Populations of other fish are far less than the red snapper obviously! What's wrong with the scientists? They must not go to the water much.
Usually any pond or bayou that has grass or coon tail or that green stuff usually would have some...just use a dip net and u will learn how to get them and where they are at. Normally people don't sell them straight up most places....wish they would, I'd buy them for sure.
I read the old report u put up yesterday and thank you Mr. Trent. The stupidity of people about the trash probably made u pull it but we had spoken via e-mail before...unfortunately people don't realize that it makes fish habitat very well, used your method but people found my hole and fish it all the time now...it worked until several located it, LOL. Still holds fish to this day, think I will go with cottonseed cake for attractor and the chicken wire thing too. This time it will be a closely guarded fishing hole, LOL. Again thank you. Anyone else have anything else for baiting a bream hole?
I would never ever give up my lake or spawn time. If u put in the time on the water u fish and also the effort then you wouldn't have to rely upon proven fisherman. Done my time and not about to let the world know about my great fishing place so a bunch of yahoo's can come in and ruin it for me. A great lake for white perch is like a good woman, u don't tell no one about either one, LOL.
Cajun that gave me goose bumps and made my eyes water, that was an awesome story. Like what u said though, me and my dad did not always catch but when we did it was a blast, but it was a blast just spending time together away from it all relaxing and drowning some worms in good old Bayou Bouef by Bunkie.
Toughened me up even more with his passing, glad to see someone actually finally commented on my report here. There are good days and bad days without him here but it always keeps him on my mind, always in my heart. Thank yall for all the replies. My father never took me hunting but I did learn how to after I ggot out of the Marines. I now have a daughter and she has been thoroughly versed in the ways of life, fishing and hunting. I always look at it this way...if you take a kid fishing or hunting it doesn't allow for time to get into trouble. I think that's what kept me out of most of the trouble I would've had growing up. Again thank you father for always teaching me how to fish and thank yall for all the comments again they are appreciated.
Well first you said why there wasn't any big croakers...By-catch...only word you need to know. I heard that before all the commercialized shrimping that there were many numbers of bull croakers caught all over south Louisiana but now not many reach a large size inshore. I made a rare catch in West Cover which were croakers near the size average of 1 pound but no monsters in October.
I think it's a good thing because I know when anyone asks about my area I let them know the low down. I'm sure there are many fine spots out there too. I mainly fish fresh water but rarely make it to the coast.

Here is the link for the story and also like I said before, the only reason he has not been arrested may only be because he is being cooperative but still as I said before if it would have been me or anyone else we would be getting three hot meals on a jail bed. No reason to let this man walk if he did not identify his target. Know what u shoot at and not at brush! http://www.louisianasportsman.com/details.php?id=3485

JB, just a heads up, wasn't calling out the state police but the justice system yes. Like I said they would have me locked up that instance if I had done it. Also the article is one of the main headlines on the home page.

What did yall use, rods or trot lines? Always more fun with rod and reel.

That's a beast, awesome catch! Also plenty for gar patties and some gravies too.
eHow should have it.
